No Cataclysm!?
Wtf, where is Cataclysm?
How can it be the Homeworld Remastered Collection if they're missing Cataclysm?
That's like buying the Half Life Collection and there being no Blue Shift, or buying a Borderlands Collection with no Pre-Sequel.
I got super excitex when I saw this but now I'm not so sure.

Same here, I'm also wondering why they don't include Cataclysm.

Source code for Cata was lost over the years.
The source code was lost AFAIK, no chance of this

They still should include the orginal no remastered version with it.

Square Enix lost the source code for Final Fantasy X but they rebuilt/reprogrammed again.

Same can be done for Cata.

Yeah me too, it's just a shame, even if it's only the original with no changes I would have liked to add it to my Steam account.

the IP when sold didnt included Cataclysm made my a different company also it was lost if they did Cataclysm it would be followed by a lawsuit

Cataclysm was made by Barking Dog, NOT Relic. Alex Garden, the father of the Homeworld Universe has stated that Cataclysm was not a part of the Homeworld Universe. It was simply an attempt by Sierra to cash in on the Homeworld IP, while Relic was busy in development of HW2.

I actually enjoyed it more than HW1, I thought the story was really good.

Who owns the rights to Cataclysm? Couldn't they do a deal?
I know the code is supposedly lost, I'm just making a different point (imagining what if the code wasn't lost)

Do you have a link supporting this? I'm not being sarcastic mind you, just very curious.

Cat was agreat game. But Barking Dog did the work - and the story of source code missing could equally be licensing or ownership problems - or other issues. If this game is done right - it will be fun to play.

Funny, I found Homeworld 2 quite average compared to Homeworld Cataclysm, storywise and gameplay wise.

I know Cata feels more like a Star Trek story than the Space Opera story of HW1, but HW2's story was very average and I hated the 'magical hyperdrives'.

Who knows Blackbird and Gearbox promised extended modding support perhaps more than the original released ever saw. I'm sure some dedicated fans could come together and rebuild it from scratch. At least for mutliplayer the limitations regarding graphic effects Cata had could/should probably be gone for the remastered editions. Hope the same goes for side voices.
