Yup basically this. +1. Personally though, I prefer homeworld.
Homeworld is a real time tactics game focused on skermish scenarios in a single map.
Sins is a grand scale RTS which is focused on galactic conquest. They're completely different games with completely different goals.
Each game excells in what it does, but they don't do the same thing. So many people here are complete idiots, it boggles the mind.
You don't know the game at all. Sins of a solar empire has Z-axis support. Actually look at the keybinds in the control configuration.
They're very different games. I love Soase. I love HW. They're... very different games that aren't comparable.
Personally, I find apples to be far nicer.
Homeworld's engine was better optimised (for the time), had a proper campaign to play though, was a lot faster-paced and its multiplayer matches didn't bog-down the same way Sins does.
They may be different generas, but Homeworld was THE shining light in its genera, and Sins is more middling-good in its one.
If I want to play a full-blooded Space RTS; I’ll play Homeworld.
If I want to play a Space 4X RTS(/TBS); I’ll play Sword of the Stars. (still sad at how crappy it's sequel was tho.)
:)
it better by far and i have both all
i just want to skirmish fight so i think these homeworld remakes will be my new favorite games. especially after the complex mod remake comes out. it seems like it really fleshes out the game. im surprised they didnt include complex mod in the remake and redo that mod as an option in the game.
but i like all spaceship rts games, really. it's my favorite genre.
i want to get into turn based, like endless space, but it doesnt get my blood and adrenaline pumping like realtime does.
I love Sins of A Solar Empire. I love Homeworld. They are not mutually exclusive and there's no reason to have to choose between the two.
In terms of actual play, I've played way more Sins than I ever did Homeworld. HW1 and 2 were basically single player experiences that I used to play through about once a year. Always loved it every time.
While I used to go to Sins LAN parties semi-regularly, clocked in way more hours playing it as a result. (This was before it came to Steam, while it was still on Impulse)
But still, it's stupid to think you have to choose between the two. You don't.
Sigh. I don't under stand why you have to get on a high horse and start lecturing. Opinons are just that. Opinons. Some of us are not even comparing genres or gameplay but just stating which experience we enjoyed more.
