Metacritc Rating
Why are they using the old rating from 2004 for the remake? I like homeworld but this seems incorrect.

My mistake it's from 1999.

My guess is they'd issue a new rating for a whole new game (Homeworld Remastered) as opposed to Homeworld and Homeworld 2. After it comes out of course.

Its the same games as the ones from 1999 and 2004 but with better graphics and updated inner workings so they can be played on modern systems..

since the game is the same, no new story or gameplay really, the metacritic score still applies

No it really doesn't. Re-releasing the game and charging for it demands a new rating. And it will be judged and compared to newer games obviously. I've read that they've changed enough of the features that a new rating is definitely warranted. Don't get me wrong. I LOVED the originals, but using the old rating for this game is dishonest IMO.

It just may be that steam is posting the metacritic rating for the original for now until one is made for the remaster edition. especially ince the originals are included.

I mean, anyone with half a brain already noticed you can't give out metacritic scores to a game which hasn't even been released yet and is still weeks away.

I'm pretty sure like me; everyone else picked up on the metacritic score not applying to the remastered version but the classics instead.

Storyline is the same and so are the mission mechanics so nothing new there to review and its also hard to do a new review when the game isn't released yet. ;p

New meta critic scores would read like "it's been done before, nothing new here, I hate gearbox, etc".

Metacritic is a plague for everyone involved, I ignore it personally.

I will laugh myself to death if it gets the same score as before :P

Amen brother, I heard that one media outlet. I think it was eurogamer has removed their metacritic scores.

I really hope it does, because I'd love to pick this up again.

It's why I've been on the fence about buying it or not. I still have my boxed copies of the homeworld games but just not sure if a new coat of paint would really make me play it again. Kind of surprised at how some people sound pissy over me bring this up but I was just confused to see a rating already for a game that isn't out. Yes meta is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but scores on it also can get or cost a company bonus money for a finished project so it does matter to the industry. I just think it's wrong to put it up there is all.

Don't bother with metacritic, espically since there is no way to be certain that the reviewer actually 'played' the game, and didn't instead just parrot the words of another reviewer elsewhere on the site (or are just making their review based off a video)

Prefer seeing with my own eyes, and not letting someone decide for me on how to spend my money.

It has nothing to do with the devs I'm sure. It's probably the publisher linking scores to the old games on Steam. I certainly don't blame the developers for that.
