Allow Homeworld2.exe in your firewall settings. (Google search how to do this). Sounds like a routing or firewall issue.

well... did it fix your problem, cuz it didn't fix mine to my friends. we clock on 'thursday war' and hit steam (cuz were across the world so lan isn't an option and dint work anyway when we tried for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles) and when we click on each other's server (no matter who's hosting, and both our connections are super fast) we get a 60 second 'connecting' wait time followed by 'host not found' and yes, our firewalls are allowing it, heck, i even tried turning them off temporarily. so any ideas on that?

I still have issues with different versions between my friend and I when we try to play complex mulitplayer over LAN. Yes, with Tunngle. Yes, we have allowed the firewalls. Yes we have the same version. No, there seems to be no help on this :c

I think it's a problem with Complex, and I'd ask on their mod page.
SoulTechnology Jul 6, 2015 @ 8:28pm
wel you obviously knwo mroe then my, i dont know what your referancing with complex or tungle.... if either of you can even play multiplayer with other people (not in the same house) could you please explain how? cus me and my freind cant even get as far as in the same lobby (as explained above).

@SoulTechnology are you talking about HWRM or HW2?

Complex is a mod for HW2C,
Tunngle is a POS program that basically creates a VPN so players can use LAN features to play online (Used for HW2C, since there's no native non-LAN multiplayer support).

If you mean HWRM, Everything is done through Steam / SHiFT. (Even LAN, terrible idea GBX!). Have either of you been able to play online before?
SoulTechnology Jul 7, 2015 @ 10:17am
both of us can play online togetehr through the HW remastered beta multiplayer... but i was talking about homefront... we cant even see eachothers matches on lan and when we try to connect through steam it takes about 60 seconds of 'connecting' justt o tell us 'cant connect to host'. nomater whos hosting, and even if our firewall si turned off.... all i cand find on the great wide open google is epople wiht the same issue and nobody wiht any solutions.

BTW, Tunngle is ♥♥♥♥. It's massively bloated with many ads and half-assed "features". On top of this, I'm pretty sure it uses 3rd party (their) servers to host the VPNs, which not only means it's less reliable, but slower than it should be, and they can log and track data (Including any passwords and login info) and possibly even access files on your hard drive.

I'd suggest LAN bridge, it's quite minimalistic, no ads, and allows one player to host a temporary VPN, (and automatically configures port forwarding to allow this!).
SoulTechnology Jul 7, 2015 @ 10:18am
and homefront is a halo mod that uses hgomeworld 2 classic
Yellow 13 Jul 7, 2015 @ 10:23am
@SoulTechnology ah ok, yes I see that now. HW2C does not use Steam / SHiFT for multiplayer at all. If you're clicking "multiplayer" in the mod, it's probably trying to use the original HW2 multiplayer that shut down a long time ago (and I think was removed from HW2C for the collection). LAN will not work unless you are on the same network (or virtual network).
SoulTechnology Jul 7, 2015 @ 10:26am
well, the mod gives you two options... lan, or steam... and the server browser will show you who else is playing, and wiht what mods, normally i cna see under a handfull fo other server playign different mods or just hw2 classic (havent seena ntoher homefront so cant test if it works) so id assume it works were jsut doing SOMETHING wrong or are missing a step.
Yellow 13 Jul 7, 2015 @ 10:37am
I stand corrected, it looks like GBX did include Steam multiplayer for HW2C.

As per this thread here http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?22497-Ports-Required-for-HW2-(1-1) there may need to be some port forwarding you have to do; it all depends on your routing setup.
