Homeworld Remastered Collection

View Stats:
Free RU in single player
Start a game in either Homeworld 1 or 2.
play the first level and when it's finished save and quit.
open your file browser and locate the save file; it ends in .lua
open save file in notepad and sc roll all the way to the bottom. You will see a line that says RU and then the number of rus you have. Change that number to 999999.
save file and exit.
reopen Homeworld remastered and continue your previous save game.
You will have 999999 rus.

Out of all the problems people have in Singleplayer, I don't think RUs are one of them. After mission 3 I never again had to even use resource collectors.

That bug is hilarious. Took me 2 hours to mine everything out. XD

it's really only useful for honing your tactics..epecially in the last level. it's like sparring to prepare for multiplayer matches.
you can also edit ships into your save file so you can have a maximum sized fleet at teh start of level 2

If you want to cheat wouldn't it just be easier to dwonload the trainer at Cheat happens?

What a great tip! This should be sticked...
For me will work to easy the pain of waiting forever for the collectors to do the job...

Thanks OP!!

This is OK if you want to avoid harvesting, but you still have to build everything out...plus you're still limited by the supported number of ships. It's a soft cap.

A vast majority of the levels check your fleet size in the same ".lua" file (persistent levels, hint hint). Each owned ship is between brackets "{ }", so just copy-paste the ships from your existing fleet in the file to make more.

Increase your fleet size by 500%, and the AI is going to do the same....the battles are insane.

I find this to be a less direct way of cheating. Why? You should try protecting your single mothership, or carriers, from 50+ capital ships and 100+ fighters while managing your own fleet.

John my poor, poor economically challenged friend. The game has already ensured I have 1.1 million + RUs in Homeworld 1 by the time of the 12th mission. Why would I reduce it to 0.999 million RUs?

I think this bug has been fixed, because it no longer works.

A big fleet? My, that's cute.

I bring a dozen of Imperial Star Destroyers and the USS Enterprise to teach the Vaygr a lesson.

The real fun of messing with the persistXX.lua files is to add powerful modded ships to the fleet, preferrably those that you've tuned yourself, and crank the reaction fleet up to doing the same to the modded ships' RU cost.

Bingo. And you preferably do it while drunk to get some weirdly awesome results.
where is the save file if you get it from gog

Same place as if you got it from Steam.

There is really no good reason to increase RU's in HW2 campaign anyway, I mean gameplay, not something against cheating. Enemy scales with your possessing fleet, the less ships brought to the next level the weaker enemy forces are. Especially the gate saving level, twenties of BC's will only lead you to restart the level in 1 min, there is no way to save the targets with 50+ missile frigs aiming at each. So actually in most cases I recycle almost all forces before go to next level, with only one destroyer, two carriers, no frigates. It is much easier to rebuild your fleet than struggling with a sea of red. From this aspect, RU's are more than enough already. Well the last level is an exception, a huge fleet is required to tear enemy defense line apart.
