I've adjusted the shortcut properties for HW2 original as follows:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -h 1080 -w 1920 /heap 3000
See if using these values on the shortcut helps. You can adjust the values for -h and -w to suit your screen resolution. Oh, try running the game as an administrator. I'll check back later and see if things have improved for you.
Depending on the system you will notice heavy lag to no lag but you will definetly notice something is not right.
... the idea they manipulated your old game is pretty funny XD. Not fully impossible but horribly unlikely. But we should stay we the more realistic solutions ;-)
Glad to hear you found a solution! Have fun!
Well theres actually a backup made in your app data, and to access that it'd need a registry key or maybe it saves it there first until you exit the game, i dunno.
Also he is right that it isn't horribly unlikely, but i'm certain now that the gearbox devs didn't alter the disc game, but it would have been the nvidia update to not force vsync anymore, looking through the patch notes for that, 2 weeks ago the version was having issues with forcing vsync by itself, they removed that, hence making the camera unfunctionable for me.
also the path for the old disc isn't sierra online, it's just sierra, and you really shouldn't mess with your registry keys, not even with a registry key cleaner, it's an easy way to miss something or remove a path that's still in use even though the game isn't installed, rendering some games to not work properly after, but that being said now.
Doesn't matter though I dont think that gearbox would stop other players from playing the old disc version, i was super sceptical that they might have, because it would be pretty easy to force something like that through nvidia updates or push a copyright through certain antivirus', but mostly i dont think so because as it stands it's unplayable anyway, crashes most of the time, doesn't have the correct resolution, laggy if you force it to the correct one, and the game is spectacularly detailed after it's remastering, i mean i won't buy it, i've played it enough in the past to not want to, though if shipbreakers is a success i might buy it and remastered if it's cheaper, cause i paid $15, 6 years ago for HW1 and 2 together, you're only paying $30 for the rework they've done really, the game should be considered free after 10 years, all the original bugs carried on, which if anyone reading is wondering, they have no intention of fixing, and the bugs came through more so when they started trying to fix formations, the HUD and all the little things.
... ok I'm out... -.-*
No reasonable discussion possible here
Good, cause you weren't following topic anyway, the topic was, game won't let me pan camera, i came to this thread thinking that people have played the original game as much as i, but the one inside the remastered collection, and maybe found that the camera wasn't working, the topic wasn't about where the saved profile data is located, though i found the answer i was looking for myself as there wasn't enough discussion happening here.
Also about the price of the game right now, there is a lot of people who think it's too high to buy, it is not a new game, if it were, it'd be worth it's price right now, it is polished graphics, compatability added for new generation graphics and moved around GUI, no bugs were fixed in fact they probably broke more of the gameplay than fixing it, the most amount of work came from the original developers of the artwork, gearbox only rescripted it to make it run on later systems and moved around GUI to make it suited for this day and age which actually looks exactly the same as the complex mod.
But you should be right with your conclusion that your Nvidia update broke it, because it seems to be activated this way on your system.
For me the pprice is justified, as they bought the license for a lot of money from a dying THQ. This alone needed to be repleaced. You where not able to buy the game anywhere officially for several years. Only some leftovers on ebay or amazon could be found. Then 2 years of development - even if not fulltime -it cost a lot of money for a non indie dev.
The fact that you consider it beeing free is simply obscene.
One could argue that 30€ is still too much but I won't think that. You basically get 2 Games that alone would cost a lot if you wanted to buy them before from original CD/DVD and in addition a remastered version. It's basically 4 games for less then 10 € each.
I have played complex and provided some single models - don't know if they actually got used finally, but I can safely say that there is a huge improvemnt in Visuals and technical limitations that alone justify the price for every one who likes the game and it's mods. The mixing of HW1 and HW2 gameplay elements will in addition provide several benefits in the future regarding modding.
