Mission 13 Junkyard Dogs
So I was curious if anyone could give me a hint on how to take these things out. Salvettes don't seem to work and even several capital ships don't seem to really do anything either.

It's a corvette so gravity-well generators should be able to disable it

Ah, I see. Do you need the cloak for that level at all?

No, the office is guarded by proximity sensors. Either take out the Dawg and fight your way through, or just send a vette squadron up, over the yards, and straight down on top of the objective. Neutralize the autoguns, grab the data, quick-dock hyperspace away.

VIinyl, when the JYD latches on and drags a ship away, chase and over take it with your ships and destroy the nearby hyperspace gate. Frigates can outrun the JYD.

Doing this will cause the JYD to stop and sit idle meaning you can take as long as needed to kill it and reclaim your ship.

That sounds like it would work pretty well as well. I ultimately used a gravity well generator to put the JYD in stasis. Then I flew over all the turrets with my Salvettes and Capital ships to get to the office. Twas fairly easy. :)

The Junkyard Dog is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. My heavy cruisers, destroyers, and missle destroyers refuse to fing attack it even though they could turn it into mince meat in seconds. And this ship moves way too fing fast when it has latched onto a capital ship. Its movement speed to be reduced to an extremely slow crawl and there should need to be 4 of them to take a destroyer and 6 to take a heavy cruiser, just like I have to use. I hate fing cheating in games like this. So now once it does latch on, I have nothing that can kill it fast enough, nothing that can pursue it because the fing autoguns kill my fighters and corvettes (which I build the minimum number of due to those ships increasing the number of enemy spawns in each mission because of fing autoscaling).

Just kill the hyperspace gate where it moves to. It will stop moving. Complete the mission with the rest of your crew, and get the hell out of that mess. You won't lose the ship. At least I didn't (oh boy, a battlecruiser)

Why kill it, fly a group of 20 heavy corvettes up and over the entire junkyard and come down on top of the husk, kill the 4-5 guns around it and you're done.

If you find it, use a gravity well to trap it, then crush it, grind it into tiny pieces and blast it into oblivion!

I have bugged JYD.

It grabbed my missile destroyer but didn't run through hypergate. Destroyer is aparently permanently grounded, I can't retake it by any means. All gates long destroyed, mission objective done. I want my destroyer back! It was captured back in the mission where missile destroyer was firstly introdused! I have history with it. It was great mission, great tactics, great maneuvers.

I even named it "Daisy"... ;(

ok easy way to kill the JYD get atleast 2 grav wells and send a ship out to be the bait(i usualy use the carrier since u can still build from it when its been taken away) have a escort of your frigates and capitals when the JYD comes in to cap ur carrier activate a gravwell and set both of them to follow it as it will drift away from the well while that happens let loose with all that capital ship firepower and sooner or later it will just poof and the mission will be set to easy mode, gotta love classic homeworld tactics

If its still green then its still yours, The crew is just in shock and refusing to follow orders, once you escape the junkyard Hyperspace out it should come with you and be fine in the next mission.

edit: make sure JYD is dead first, not sure if it can follow if hes holding it.

That's the bug- it still holded my Daisy. BUT signature of the ship was still green and luckily it DID hyperjumped with rest of my fleet. This mission was my favourite in HWC and now is broken in HWR. :C

Not only this one. For instance ALL non-collectible debris fields are barely visible on sensors. It make supernova mission almost unplayable. You can't navigate nowhere except for going dead ahead to your objective.

Whole episode in the Garden was easy as hell because of strange AI gliches. I was able to destroy all their motherships within minutes. It was no challenge at all. In HWC those missions took me weeks. And they were awesome!

All enemies have smaller sensors range than I. I was able to capture every single cruiser and destroyer I encountered. I have so many of them I can't build even one of my own!

Not only formations are broken. Tactics are useless now. They work like in any other game now. In original Homeworld tactics was so much usefull. For example. "Evasive: power is taken away from weapons and shifted to engines. Ships travel a bit faster, ducking and weaving to avoid damage." (taken from rakrent.com "Formations & Tactics")

Yesterday I tested using the JYD for my advantage. I lured it with one HC to my 3 gravity-well generators (Supported by Repair Corvettes) and kept the JYD trapped in there. Then I sent in my Destroyers to clear out all the turrets and proximity sensors while avoiding to destroy the hyperspace gates. Make sure the JYD remains trapped the whole time. Once you cleared the turrets out you can releave the JYD and let him Capture your destroyers and heavy cruisers. Once you lost those ships you can build new ones (especially the Kushan HC). Continiue sending your ships to get grabbed. Once you spent your whole money in new capital ships trapp the JYD again and destroy it. Now you can start using salvagers to retrieve your ships. Make sure to send only salvagers, otherwise you have to fight your own ships. If you cleared out all turrets your salvage teams wont face any threats.
That way I have about 12 HC for the next mission to devastate that sphere of ion frigs.
