Homeworld 1 Classic Tutorial Crash

I started doing the tutorial for the original games to get the archivement so I could have everything since its easy to get then but on the middle of the tutorial and more specific on the battle part the game just crashes after a kill, did someone find a work around by any chance?

Only reason I wanted to even try this was to get the achievement, and no matter what I do of all the options provided in this thread and others, it crashes when a ship explodes. fml.

DBT85, did you try the tip I provded a few msgs ago in this thread? It was the only way I could get past it.

It actually worked for me! I changed the language to German and then back to English, worked first go after crashing every other time :)

I'm already playing in English. And the tutorial just crashed for me. I might've been in the 7th or 8th tutorial lesson.

Edit: Switching the language from English to German, then launching the game, quitting, and then switching the language back to English worked for me.

As I posted in another thread, changing the language didn't fix it for me. However, I tried changing the video resolution from the default to a higher res and that finally fixed the problem.

Another note is that you have to actually finish the Practice mission to get the achievement, which takes awhile because you have to kill off all the enemy ships and there are several waves of them.

Hi, I had the same bug but solved it changing compatibility mode to windows XP.

- You have to found the .exe of Homeworld 1 Classic. For me it was in : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld1Classic\exe\Homeworld.exe

- Right click on property, and in compatibility tab, change compatibility mod to Windows XP (I put service pack 3, I don't know if it's important).

- Then right click on the .exe and run as administrator.

It worked for me, I hope it will work for you too :)

Friend if playing for the first time - Better find an older
original version that uses Directx
PS/ By the way, I don’t have departures in classic with open GL

This worked for me:
1. Save/backup (Homeworld.exe or Homeworld1Classic folder) from Steam install (might work with GOG aswell but not tested)
2. Install patch v1.05 (Links at pcgamingwiki).
3. Replace Homeworld.exe with backed up one to get NO-CD working again.
