Cannot research multi-gun corvette in mission 7.

As it says. I get the notification to research a new kind of corvette but when I open the reseach window there is nothing there. I've restarted the level quite a few times now and it seems broken. Any ideas?

Did you happen to lose your research ship in the Diamond Shoals? It can get smacked by an asteroid without you noticing and thus you lose your research capabilities.

FYI, the multi gun corvettes suck in mission 7 anyway. Build Assault Frigates instead. Any small ships just get obliterated.

I didn't lose my research ship and still didn't get the multi-gun research option despite completing it at a fairly normal pace. Pretty poor show really, though apparently they aren't that useful.

I usually used heavy corvettes and drone frigates. Drone frigates rock.

So is there any fix for this?Do you need a scout or something to get the option? Is there a cheat or something for it (Im sure the multi-gun corvette is good sometime)

As LogicCure said, I think my reasearch ship got rekt in the asteroid field. I replayed that mission and ended up being able to research it.

You can also add the multi-gun corvette research to your persist file for the next mission.

I have 2 research ships (well 1 + upgrade) and unless they ghosted (that happened to me in one of the first missions, a couple ships "ghosted", hailed when selected but wouldnt respond to or do commands).

I never got the option or the "They're using fighters" speech, do you need a scout or something?

Do you not get that option if you buy the Drone Tech from the Bentusi?

Also will adding the research to my persist file interfere with steam achievements?

Hmm this may have something to do with it, I scared away the enemy mothership BEFORE the first (Failed) jump, then went right to the one that works...maybe I missed the chance?

Could be. I'm not really sure of anything besides the research ship getting swacked.

Well if the event that triggers it is after the failed jump and tied to the enemy MS then it definatly would do this...

For tis issue I found out that you never ever should skip the ambassador cutscene. This will break up the trigger giving you the research later on. I tried multiple approaches, and yes, it is only connected to this on all my tries..

So if someone is running into this, just don't skip this scene.

As an old veteran to HW classic, I can also tell that those multip-gun corvettes are the most effective then it comes to obliverate small vessels. Put them into aggressive and ball formation and they are comparable effective to the missile destroyers. Any other formation is a waste on them.
