Forgot how much I HATED the way this game does cutscenes.
Oh, you wanted to manage your fleet and respond to threats, harvest space bling, etc? Sorry I'm too busy constantly interrupting you, moving your camera around, and making sure you see what it is I'm talking about. What's that you say? That could easily have been accomplished WITHOUT you losing control of the fleet for x amount of time while the enemy ships get into position and shoot at the thing you want to protect? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. LOOK AT THIS RED DOT THAT I"M EMPHASING THE IMPORTANCE OF.

If you've played the campaigns enough you learn to quickly move your fleet immediately before the cutscene starts :-)

Ah right, I forgot that I'm actually fighting on two fronts. The enemy, and the villanous narrator. Doesn't make that particular mechanic any less stupid.
SIR! An Enemy Narrator just jumped into the system! Focus all fire on that narrator!

bahaha, good fun.

I've noticed it as well, it can be annoying but I'll put up with it, lol. You think they would of simply made any action in the background 'pause' upon a cutscene happening. However, they probablly assumed people who played the originals would of gotten upset over that :p
I did play the originals.... and no, I wouldnt have been upset to have seen something that stupid changed.

Wow, that's a lot of whining about something that's not actually interrupting anything important during the entire game. Not sure if it bothered you more in HW1 or HW2, but in HW1's defense, it never interrupts any important battles or crucial moments. If it does interrupt, then it's the player's fault for not knowing how to play the damn game.

Oh and, you can order your harvesters to harvest in like a second and do it before the cutscene.

Just started playing HW2 campaign, and now I remember, this was a lot more intrusive in HW2... I didn't even mind it in HW1 but here it gets a bit ridiculous. So yeah, I definitely see where you're coming from. One of the reasons I didn't like HW2 as much as HW1 - all this quick action ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with interrupting cutscenes and you can't even hyperspace on demand.

Although this discussion is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious to read I need to make a quick point here:

You know the button normally at the top right corner of your keyboard that has the words 'Pause' and 'Break' on it. Yer that one

You see it?

You know the word pause means pause right?

Well if you press that button the game pauses (HUU Shock Horror Drama) which means the cuts scenes can’t happen until you un-pause it again. OMG it’s a REVELATION!

Holy Moly Sparoley Batman! That means you can issue all the commands you want without being interrupted by cut scenes!

Are you getting my patronize cas I have more if you want it

Ow and PS

This was in the original game as well so don't go saying 'how am i meant to know that'

Homeworld 1 Classic still lets you control stuff and move the camera around during the dialogue. I don't know why that was scrapped for the remaster.

it still doesnt justify the way it annoy the player. I mean, sure it can be workedaround, but it still is REALLY annoying. I agree to that, that was ever a thing i hated about the game. I dont know why but it seems to be even more annyoing in the remaster.
Krow Feb 28, 2015 @ 4:54am
eech maybe I don't mid cas I always worked around it cas I played H2 when I was a kid so I don't really get what people are harking on about

Though it’s still funny to read
Buntkreuz Feb 28, 2015 @ 4:56am
its because it is very annoying. I never finished the HW2 campaign and only got until the mid when it was released. I only ever finished HW1 and mostly played only that so this was the basic game for me. Still i am horribly annyoed by the way they manage cutscenes. Want to do cutscenes, pause all fighting. Its an easy thing to design and they simply failed with it. Thats not excusable, just possible to workaround.

Aw that means you never got your hands on the mega death canon lollygag hyperspace ship thing... yer I had fun with that thing
Farlion Feb 28, 2015 @ 5:08am
In Cataclysm your ships were unable to take damage during cutscenes. Pity they didn't add that.

Am I going crazy? Because I swear you are still able to issue commands and move around while cutscenes are progressing. Maybe it's only with the hotkey binds.
