So you have a map of the galaxy. Its split into regions and each region itself is split up into provinces. Control of a region depends on how many provinces you control. Obviously areas that lie on the more dense portions, like the spiral arms, generate the most RUs. Provinces can be taken over in a mirade of ways I would suspect, aside from force.
The Homeworlds themselves are basically a dot on the map. But its surrounded by a segmented ring. The segments are made up of the Homeworlds Defense forces. This ring can be bypassed by a fleet with far jump capability but the Homeworld can call in reinforcements from the ring.
Movement of fleets will probably limited to short jumps with the occasional Mothership class with Far Jumping available. There will also be enviromental hazards, high velocity asteroid fields, high radiation zones, the Kadeshi, progentior wrecks and the Turanic pirates. The Progenitor wrecks are a double edged sword in that investigating them can be benefical. While Pirates can be payed to harress enemies.
seriously, those turn base games are for me no strategy games .. they got nothing to do with it an totaly easy even on hardest mode .. RTS is the real strategy games and i will be this way for ever ...
seriously, allone for this idea u should be removed from the forum! :D
Who said it had to be turn-based? 4x doesn't automatically mean turn-based; I'm thinking a Sins of a Solar Empire type thing, but with Homeworld combat mechanics, and coordinate-and-resource-based hyperspace rather than arbitrary and restrictive "lanes". Along with everything Hunter mentioned above. And of course make everything 3D, in keeping with the spitrit of Homeworld! XD
@Unit, Exactly! 4x doesn't mean turn based at all. Your and Hunter's description is basically what I'm looking for.
If anyone knows if this is actually a project somewhere, let me know. I can help out. ;)
No offense to modders, but some of us would prefer a professionally produced game instead of work done by an amateur in their spare time.
Loved freelancer to death, and Homeworld has such a great lore behind it!!! It would be even better than Dragon age, maybe on the same line as witcher. And no MMO for homeworld please, that would be the death of me.
I would rather have a Homeworld FPS from the perspective of a marine frigate trying to cap a Vaygr Battle Cruiser.
Agreed! Ever since HomeWorld and Freelancer came out I have always wanted to play a hybrid of the both. Actually are we not due for a new Freelancer game? Anyways I always wanted the scope of Freelanceer(which to me is a perfect game) in HomeWorld.
