Old Cd Keys Being Honored?

So I purchased homeworld, homeworld cataclysm and homeworld 2 when they first came out and then again when my CD's starting giving cheksum errors. All in all i've purchased two copies of each of these games and as such have 6 cd keys.
My question is will my original cd keys for these games give me access to the classic versions of these games? and if not...... then why not?

I would venture that they will not be honored. The company that originally sold the original games is not the one who is producing these.

It would be nice to get some kind of random ingame nod to those of us who owned the originals, but come on guys, it's $30 for a modern revamp of one of the greatest games ever made, stop being so damn stingy.

As much as i wish it would be true the fact remains that it is exceedingly rare in the industry to do this. in my recollection i have only been able to get redemptions out of x3 terran conflict when impulse changed hands and unreal tournament 3 and the weird thing sega did with COH 1, and Supreme commander gold

To the OP they wont be useable because this isn't the classic this is a remasted. if you want the classic then torrent the CD ISO. and as for why (do I need to answer this) its a 16 year old game with a screen size of 480 MAX for 32bit.

1) Different Company.
2) Different product (HD version).

It's more than a fair price. If you think it's too much, just wait for hte steam sale in 6 months (40-50% off) or 9 months (75% off).

even the classic versions have had some upgrades to make them compatable with modern systems, so no chance of keys being honored,

Would be still cool if they release the classic versions on gog.com and honor the old keys.
The issue is just: How should they honor the keys when they can not even get the source code for all 3 games?

I doubt that they know what algorithm they used and what legit keys are and which keys are just out from some key-generator. If you have legit keys, just download the ISOs sounds like a good advice for most countries. Be aware that this not advice that is legit for all places in the world, in some this might be still illegal and be aware that torrent files are illegal in most, so don´t upload, just download.

(I did not mean that torrents in general are illegal, downloading my linux via torret is absolutely fine, I am granted a licence to distrubute linux, but I have non to do so with Homeworld, Gearbox might have one, they could offer a free iso download of the old games which than simply work with the old keys)

Theres no way they could do it really. I doubt anyone still has the original cd-key database. Plus keys have been shared online, it just wouldn't work.

Classic versions are not listed as a separate title at this time; they're packaged with remastered and are not sold separately. In addition, even the classics have been updated (UI updates, taskbar scaling, optimization for modern OS, etc.), so they are not the exact same as the originals, really. Grand scheme of things, $30 is incredibly reasonable; you get two versions of two games. If it's really that big of a deal, wait for a sale.

For awhile i pretty much owned most of the good console games that eventually get ported to pc. So does that mean i should go asking for free pc versions because i own the game, after all i did buy the game already. SOmetimes it would be nice if it worked like that , but people need to eat. These dudes had to spend some time they deserve to get paid for what they went to college for.
