Homeworld 2 is the sequel to Homeworld but not to Homeworld Cataclysm and in general terms not considered canon - just a side story.

The basis for the "Horror" aspect is very strong but I'm not sure that I'd call the story brilliant.
For some reason I do find the completely fresh set of voice-overs very refreshing.
Those ACV pilots REALLY like fighting.
It's a very good game - I recently played it for the first time and though some levels were really irritating, overall I enjoyed it greatly. ACOLYTE HAS BEEN RETIRED
I'm probably a member of the "Cataclysm/Emergence isn't canon" camp but that shouldn't be seen as a discounting of what the game offers. The story is simply kinda weird and it's 100% unaddressed in Homeworld 2 so...
