General Fail Error

I'm at the last stage in trying to fix this issue, When I try to play HWRM from the laucher I'm given a Message that says in english General Failure and says 4 other things below it that I'm guessing says the same thing in other languages. To solve this problem, I've deleted the game and re-downloaded it 4 times, I've deleted all my C++ redistributable and reinstalled them,
I've tried to change the playerlua to change resolution and tried other settings to see if I can kick start the game, but each time say Error I've looked up many posts that even date back to Jan of last year, so I need to know what is going on here ?

Same here... everytime i start a game i get "general failure" and it stops the game..

Hey guys I was able to get this working. Here is what I did: delete everything Homeworld. The game in steamapps and files in my documents. I also disabled steam cloud in the game properties on steam. I then re-downloaded the game from scratch. This fixed it.

Previously, I had just installed the game from an old backup and let steam update to the latest. For some reason this screwed with the install. I don't even know if you have to disable steam cloud. In any case I had backed up my save games. So yea, in a nutshelf. re-downloading from scratch should do it.

Nope. Not working for me. Still the same General Failure. /sigh/ I also cannot stop the automatic updates. They just keep going.

I had previously done what you did King1600, and it did not fix it for me either. I am about to send them more logs.

I suggest that if it is not working for you, that you submit a ticket as well to show that there are several customers that are unable to play it.

Gearbox does not have an immediate fix for me yet, and my ticket has been placed on hold.

After reading King's post, I gave it another try. It is working now. I turned off cloud sync, deleted local files from within the steam client, and then deleted any leftover [homeworld] folders in the common folder within steamapps. So to be clear I just installed it from the internet 3 times.

Hey guys I spent a few hours researching and the best temporary solution I have been able to find to mods being broken is to roll back the game to a previous version. Gearbox coulda made this easy for us by allowing us to install old versions through the beta function in steam like some other games do. Sins of a solar empire does this for the mod community for example.

Anyways Long story short our good friend Mon the creator of bigDecrypter has posted a way to manually download the old version from steam and with a little work you can rollback to the previous version of homeworld remastered and get your mods kickin again.
Here is the link to the instructions he left and I just used to rollback my own game so I can play Gundam seed.

I hope Gearbox officially fixes this, but I hope this helps people in the meantime.
This fix worked for me for Gundam seed Remastered as of 11/25/2016. Playin right now 35 minutes in no problems so far.

Btw OP, Star trek is the only total conversion mod that has been updated to work with the new patch. That one should work now without having to rollback, was playin it earlier tonight.

See if your game files are ok, check game cache, mods need to be redone to work with moding tool released in patch 2.0
