Sword of The Stars is an old space 4X with tactical phases considered by many to be the best in this genre. Maybe you could have a look at that one too.

Falling Frontier looks promising while not been the usual clone of a Homeworld - it's worth to watch for the release

Overall I liked Haegemonia better, but that is just because it was very pretty at the time, not too difficult, and I liked the tech trees/pace. Balance is more enjoyable, since you can toss most anything against stuff and be able to compensate with numbers or upgrades.
Might be impossible to run with a 10+ series Intel chip and/or windows 11. I think is still has a really bad audio glitch, but I keep reading about fixes.
I thoroughly recommend it as a must-have!
