Games like homeworld?
Outside of Sins of a Solar Empire does anyone know of anymore obscure ones?

I remember there's one that opens up with a cut scene of "The first murder in space" but beyond that I cannot remember the name.

Very interesting ! I did not know Nebulous Fleet Command, looks great !

Sword of The Stars is an old space 4X with tactical phases considered by many to be the best in this genre. Maybe you could have a look at that one too.

There are several games in developments on STEAM but they're literally a clone of Homeworld and with Homeworld 3 out this year not sure if they're worth the wait.

Falling Frontier looks promising while not been the usual clone of a Homeworld - it's worth to watch for the release

I always figured haegemonia legions of iron was super close. I played both haegemonia and homeworld at roughly the same time and when I would get annoyed with one I would switch to the other.

Overall I liked Haegemonia better, but that is just because it was very pretty at the time, not too difficult, and I liked the tech trees/pace. Balance is more enjoyable, since you can toss most anything against stuff and be able to compensate with numbers or upgrades.

Might be impossible to run with a 10+ series Intel chip and/or windows 11. I think is still has a really bad audio glitch, but I keep reading about fixes.

Here's an absolute classic that was released for the Matrox Millennium graphics card originally as a demo, but it's graphics, ship upgrades and interface are just way,way ahead of it's time. The battles, explosions are leagues ahead of HW and other Space sims.
I thoroughly recommend it as a must-have!
