Homeworld: Emergence was originally released as "Homeworld: Cataclysm". "Cataclysm" is now a registered trademark of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., and the game has been renamed to avoid confusion. Other than the subtitle change, the game is identical to the game released in 2000.
Runs well, I play it once in a while, because I loved the game mechanics from it as well. I do wish they'd roll it in to the new system.
Game won't start for me.
You must use this :
https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/5-homeworld-hardware-acceleration-fix/
-Check run program as admin in compatibility tab.
-Then create a shortcut of cataclysm.exe and use the launch argument -window -noBorder.
It should be something like that :
"\Homeworld Cataclysm\cataclysm.exe" -window -noBorder
The game should work now.
Then to change the resolution ( I have HW 1 & HW Cataclysm running in 2560x1440 on W10).
- open regedit.exe and go to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sierra On-Line\Cataclysm
In decimal Change screenDepth to 32 and screenHeight/screenWidth with your resolution.
Then go to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Sierra On-Line\Cataclysm
If this exist then do the same change as before. If it doesnt then ignore this.
Now the game should work fine.
All of this can be found here :
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Homeworld
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Homeworld:_Cataclysm#Configuration_file.28s.29_location
Oh yeah, I'm using the CD version so I didn't think about this.
Glad you find how to make it works, hope you'll have fun playing Cataclysm !

Getting rid of the 3dfx files helps, thanks ^_^. Really wish they could've added Cataclycm (rot in hades, Blizzard) to the RM collection. The story's still superior to HW2's.
That said : No matter its called CATACLYSM inside the menu anyway so its all good. i own the old one so i dont even care about that.
