pulling 3D models
just wondering if anyone knows a way to get to the 3D files of all the ships from the game files? I'd love to conver them to .stl format so I can 3D print them.

Unfortunately you cannot do this at the moment. Gearbox made some examples available as dae files which can be opened in 3dsmax or blender (with the hwrm dae importer). The gearbox example ships are on the workshop.

Yes you can. It all gets down to how much time you're willing to go through with it.
If you fail to pull out the model from Homeworld Remaster *.big editor, you could also
try and use the older Homeworld Classic *.big file editor for the ship base models.

yeah I came across this and it works... spent some time converting the 3d models to .stl for printing. I kind of gave up on the remastered stuff. Lots of work getting all the parts of every ship in blender. I had a lot of luck with HW1 and HW Cataclysm (GOG version). They don't have too many ship models that are split up like HWRM. I found that most geo have the whole ship.

Ah yes, you are right. The classic models are accessible. The remastered ones are not.
