Iron cannon arrays
I captured alot of Ion Cannon Arrays from the raiders in my last mission. Some of them never fire when I attempt to use them. Is it better off just retiring them and building my on Ion cannon frigates or do they have the same problem?

Even though the Ion Arrays look cool, they are slower, do less damage and have less range then your own (iirc). I always retired them to get RU's to build my own which are much better. (but not as cool looking) IMO.

Thanks. Can you retire them? I just tried and it doesn't have the option.

From what I remember, you can in next mission.

I personally like the challenge of trying to keep some Turanic ships until the end of the campaign.

Actually, they are slower and heavier but they fire faster, have greater firing range and do twice the amount of damage as your own ion cannon frigates. The arrays let them gather ion particles around them to produce a more powerful beam. They also don't self heal.

So if you want a slower heavier hitting, faster firing and longer range keep the on Array Frigates.

If you want self healing (though slowly) faster more manoeuvrable ion cannons then stick to the ones you can build.
