Tips and tricks for Homeworld 1/2 Remastered?

First of all: I totally suck at Homeworld, every Homeworld game, Homeworld 1 Remastered, Homeworld 2 Remastered and Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak.

That's why I need your help. I love the Homeworld games, but I get very frustrated very easily.
So I need some general tips, like how to use formations, what are even formations, how to establish a good ressource operation, how do I keep the overview over my ship, etc.

If anyone knows something, please help.

It helps to play with other humans online. They then can show you what to do.

The original manual is a good source of information, bit tedious to read but explains a lot of good gameplay to enjoy the game - worth the read

Ok playing with other people didn't help. They are anhillating me with frigates and destroyers when I build 5 Interceptors.

I said to play with not against. Then you can observe what they do and ask questions.

Pause the game often to make your commands (Either "P" key in homeworld or Pause key on your keyboard) Pause the game and take the time you need to order ship to do whatever. Always have a group of ressource ships (Workers and refineries + escort) far away from battle if you can to collect ressources. Group your ships with keyboard keys 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 etc... each group should have a purpose (Small attack fighters to handle small ships, Ion cannon frigate for capital ships etc. Formations are key : study them to your advantage. (Delta, Sphere, Wall, etc.) If you are playing single player : ALWAYS COLLECT EVERY RESSOURCE YOU CAN BEFORE ENDING THE MISSION ;)
