Is this worth the buy?

I am a big fan of RTS games, I was wondering if this was similiar to like Starcraft 2 or Rise or Nations in Terms of gameplay? Example: do you build a base and attack enemies or is it similar to star wars empire at war, where battles are seperate from base building?

your basically a race of people with no homeworld lol..and you have a huge mothership thats where you live and build ships from ect and on the move.

In terms of gameplay it is closer to Starcraft where you manage resources and production at the same time as combat. That goes for the campaign as well as multiplayer. Overall a great RTS

Think of it as reading a good book. It is worth the buy even if you only play the campaign once and tinker with multi player. It is a very different RTS than the traditional, but worth a play through.

Yes - both the H-Remaster and H-Desert of Kharak. The gameplay centered around the Mothership to which you build your armies as you proceed with the missions and story.
The story is really engaging and complex, so is the soundtrack and art & design is top notch.

Ok guys i bought it, its awesome i beat the campaing for HW 1 and am messing around with mods. I love the Star Trek one, great game that could be modded endlessly.

Just got it for 10 bucks in the sale (my xmas present from my genius perfect wife). Never played an rts like this, the story is so compelling and the whole atmosphere of the game is unique. Anyone who has gotten it should go download the original manual in pdf, that's an incredible work of art too. I'm only two hours in to HWR1 and I know I will end up playing 2 as well and then probably messing around with conversion mods and the classic editions later. For 10 bucks the collection is an excellent investment imo.
