Controller support
The store page says full controler support but does that include an XBOX controller or just a joystick? I really want to cuz i dont have a joy stick and flight sims can be a ♥♥♥♥♥ without a controller or joystick. =)

I predict a bit of hair tearing, surely. But that's intrinsic to serious flightsims :)

Try to keep to the more stable planes. Like the Albatros D.Va, or the F.okker D.VII.

You can also turn on auto rudder but I'm not sure if that will actually help or hamper your flying.

Just stay away from easy piloting or simple physics! They only make things harder :)

Actually no they don't, they make things much much easier, i blew through all the tutorials and a few missions in this mode without breaking a sweat, if your a new player then i recommend you start in this mode until you become more adjusted, as at higher realism, the planes can be a ♥♥♥♥♥ to fly.

What you actually meant to say was, "try playing in full realism as most of our servers only allow this mode and it breaks bad habits"

Well, if you ever switch those settings off, you will have to learn to fly all over again, I guess I wanted to prevent that. But if it works for you, and perhaps others as well, why not :)

Ok wel heres the deal. I got the game and I tried to plug in the controller but it has the connection with the long black cord and the nob at the end that blinks green. than it shuts off. Do you have anysuggestions?
Jorri Sep 7, 2013 @ 9:25am
It's the same for me, the light blinks when I connect it but after that the light shuts off, even when I play. But it still works. Have you tried assigning controls to it in Rise of Flight yet, to see if it responds?

No the only controls it shows are those of the keyboard maybe i have to be plugged in.

There is no controller profile for the controller in Rise of Flight. You will have to assign all relevant controls to the controller yourself. Which controls these are I made a suggestion for in the topic I linked, so that should help a bit. But since Rise of Flight wasn't made with controllers in mind, it takes a bit of fiddling to get everything the way you want it.

Do i go to the same place?

With the controller connected, open up Rise of Flight, go to options, and then controls.

You will see that the controls are devided among serveral submenu's: plane controls, weapon controls, engine controls, etc.

So if you want to assign your engine start/stop button, click engine controls, look up start/stop engine, double click one of the fields, and press the button on your gamepad that you want to use for it.

It's important to save your new controls to a new profile with the save button on the top right, because the default control profile gets overwritten with every update and you might lose your controls.

I hope I'm making sense. I not, keep asking :)

Let me know if it works, setting up controls in any flightsim is a helluva daunting task..
