Problem figuring out wind headings for bombing
I hate to be that guy but I guess it must happen. I am playing career as a Bomber pilot at the moment and even though I do have an ok grasp on using the bombsight enough to score hits. I do so by just guessing that if the wind is coming from the east, then assume that setting my wind for about the same as my compass heading is the best i can do. Any pointers will be appreciated as I wish to improve.

IL2 BoX Bombsight Wind Calculator

This should help you calculate wind and such in RoF. Off the top of my head I don't remember how detailedthe bomb aiming setup is.

Helpful. and the bombsights can be simplistic with just ALT, Airspeed, and Windspeed. Bus some also have the full 360DEG wind correction instead of the 180 2 position sight. So ya that was helpful but I guess I am still trying to figure out the best and fastest way to determine the wind direction Reciprocal. I know that if it says the Wind is N-NW the recip would be S-SE. The hard part is guessing the actual heading in DEG. Thank you for the help though Donik

I think you gotta kinda estimate it and hope for the best.. By memory, I don't think RoF gives detailed wind headings in the mission briefings but I could be wrong.

Wind calculations in RoF are a bit different. Give this video a view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHArCxSwhYc
