wider view
Hello everyone. I'm just dipping my toes into RoF and my attempts are hampered by having too close a view of the cockpit. This means I can't see anything in front of the plane. Is there a way to get a wider angled forward view? Thanks for any help.

Yes there are. Go into options and see, its either in camera controls or pilots head controls. If you are playing on a keyboard, I think its plus and minus. Also the numpad lets you look around if I remember correctly. I have been playing this game for 10 years so if you got any questions feel free to ask.

Thank you. I managed to get the albatross into the air this afternoon but had to land in a field after losing the airstrip. No crash though.

The albatros is a good starting plane. :)
If you use the mouse to look around (or even if you don't), you can set the mouse wheel to zoom in and out; it might already be set that way.

Thanks, I'll have a look.

by default, shift+mouse wheel will zoom out. I spent a couple hours googling field of view settings before I got to the real setting, which is "Pilot head zoom" or something like that.

Im fairly new and yes it took me a while to figure out how to change the FOV. Sometimes it's good to zoom in when you are attacking though. Have fun!

Yeah; Myself; I've been wondering if anybody would know, if there's, any
Clear, Cockpit Gun sight view ahead, without instruments blocking; (like IL-2, Cliffs of Dover, and other flight sims).

Note that you can move back and forth in the cockpit by using the Plus and minus keys on PC. It helps to not be too close to the instrument panel.

I'm playing now on a ultra wide screen monitor that helps to but not as much as I hoped because it kind of fudges on the peripheral vision.

Thanks.

I worked out that I had to hold left Shift or Ctrl (I can remember) and then zoom in and out with the mouse wheel.
