Playable without joystick?

I want to play this game but I really cannot afford a joystick. It may seem like something cheap to people in the first world, but here it isn't. In fact the sole reason I'm asking this right now is because all DLC is on sale, otherwise I wouldn't care.

there is a mouse option. i haven't used it, but it's there and i'm sure with some dedicated practice it'll be functional enough for you.

Rise of Flight was initially designed to be played with a twist-handle joystick only. Mouse control was added as an afterthought. I would recommend that you download the Free-2-Play version and try out the 3 free airplanes. If you find that you enjoy using a mouse, then go ahead and purchase a few discounted DLCs. If you determine that mouse control is not to your liking then, you have lost nothing. If you plan on flying online in the multiplayer servers you WILL definitely need to use a joystick to be competitive.

I know this game has been thought with joystick in mind. I've read it in countless other places. Such as how racing sims are designed with steering wheels in mind. But this assumes the player is able to afford such equipment, and in a country with a volatile economy this is much more difficult. Especially during a pandemic where every penny counts for us.

I've found on the forums a profile for a Xbox controller. I'm using a PS4 controller with an emulator so I'm gonna try that alternative too.
