"Easy" Training mission 6.

I started playing this game in 2016. I fell in love with it immediately when I was younger (still love it) - ww1 planes, with accurate handling and speed, with extremely detailed interiors. I would just fly around, as I was ♥♥♥♥♥ at shooting anything that was flying, enjoying the planes. I got a new computer in 2018, but never got around to reinstalling. Until yesterday.

I only did the first 2 training missions when I first played the game, because even though I was quite young I was more than able to fly (with joystick, still using same joystick) from previous experience with other flight sims. Today, training mission 1-5, no problem, other than the bombs in mission 5. But mission 6? I am currently about to try for my 7th time today to kill the FIRST albatross you come across. I find it quite upsetting that even with the training missions I am unable to learn and improve, because this damn albatross seems to be an ace. I cannot get myself behind him, and because of clear weather, there are no clouds to lose him in. I'd do much better with a rotary aircraft than a SPAD, because of the poor visibility and climb rate. It's a real shame because the combat just killed the fun factor completely.

If anyone has any ideas on how to improve in combat or at least have a guide on how to beat mission 6, I would really appreciate it, otherwise it's back to me crusing around. Though I do suppose it will be helpful to familiarise myself with the aircraft once more.

One thing that always helps is to lighten your plane by adjusting your fuel level and leaving any bombs at home or dropping them indiscriminately along the way.

Is there any particular reason you are set on completing mission 6 "or bust" ? There's plenty of other stuff to do in game.. The campaigns, the career mode. All the fly now's or the scenarios they have for each aircraft. All of which will help you become a more experienced pilot over time.

here's what looks like a pretty good YouTube video on how to do Training Mission 6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUbkNnEVfqc

Thanks. I feel it's necessary to get past it to truly earn the name as a pilot, since I kind of jumped straight in when I was younger. I'm only really good with the DR.I considering it's the only thing I liked at the time other than a select few aircraft. They're lighter, maybe not quicker, but their handling is nice, compared to the slightly slow turning spad, it struggles against the alabtross.

Don't feel so bad, I never got past lesson 3! I could never make that climb to the final 'hoop' without my plane stalling. :(

Don't worry, that one was pretty tense. I go in circles while slowly climbing before hitting a checkpoint. Then I have enough altitude without stalling ;P

Cheers mate, I'll give this a go. Didn't know fuel makes THAT much of a difference.

It's not a miracle cure, but it may help a bit. And maybe adjust your guns while you're at it; fighting more than one enemy means you have to chip away at them whenever they pass in front of you, so if your guns are trained too close, the rounds will will cross right in front of you (like an X) and fall far wide of your target.
