my only viable build I found:
character with mercenary perk.
mostly golden set, golden dagger for swiftness, and pants/boots from the set which gives dodge.
Cleared up to 50+ floor, however there will be a problem with dodging/blocking enemies. They wont kill you, but you will have to spam attack a lot.

How to pick a different character? After I picked my first one, it only offers them when I click New Journey

Click the character portrait when you're making their initial build.

How to deal with Mindcontrol / stun?

dodge still work under cc.
Only dragons with slow counter it, so just prioritize them

Cinder/dodge works pretty well until you can get to thronglers which are just op

I went quite far with the thorn/armor guy with +5 armor stack at the start, using ice armor (mostly for the x5 armor once you equip 5 item of this set, because the effect isn't really useful) and using some +toughness, hp, %armor, %all damage.

Most of the run was a breeze.

Poison was annoying but not a big deal because reflect kill them quickly, ghoul with armor pen was also quite annoying (they regen so much and ignore armor). Flying monster with 45 energy that could dodge took some time but luckily they don't that much damage.

Now, i'd say that if you can stack more attacks (not damage), and some dazzling thingy late game you could probably really go for a very long run.

in higher stages the only treat are dodge and block, everything else dies in an instant.

my main thus far is Viran, he becomes immortal starting floor 7
floor 7 is when the royal set drops.

Viran himself has the Chromaleur Set Bonus
when ever you WOULD take dmg, you dont. but you get poison stacks instead.

Turn1? buy ANY silver set item
SIlver cleanes the poison in turn 1 and 2, so you are already immortal for 2 turns.

Floor7? buy ANY royal set item
gain 1 "inherited sin" stack; if cleaned, gain "debuff immunity" for 10 turns
Congratz you are immortal for 11 turns.

Your 4th set should be sth to hit often
demonic for multi hit
or mercenary for chain hits
or hunter to avoid dodge

as weapon i recommand sth classless like "soul collector" or "crystal staff"

Skilltree: chaos - max mana - 10% insight - 25% wisdom

when ever you get a black market go for:
- magic dmg - wisdom - insight - faith - power

carefulk bout your first turn. insight adds a massiv dmg boost, starting floor 21 make sure to hit saturn first (big brown guy with a shield).
Are you thinking of an older version of the game? To me it only says it will convert half of the damage you would take to health. I'm sure it's still strong, but it's no "negate all damage" type of build.

3 key sets I use for late game are:

1: Mercenary set for extra loot and extra attacks
2: Demon set for multi attack turn 1
3: Hunter set to ignore that monster that counters when dodging

Then for the end of floor bonuses
For the first few floors you don't have too much of a choice, but mostly try and get 15+ armor per floor and you should have no issue surviving
After you get the demonic sabatons on floor 5, focus on magic and insight and you should be wiping all enemies other than that orc that blocks stuff, he doesn't hit that hard tho so it shouldn't be a big deal
Now the next step is getting ready for the Perfect Slave on floor 60, since nothing else is really a threat
So make sure you're keeping up on damage and stack as much dazzle and armor % as you can

best items for dismantling for this build are:
Gloom - best source of dazzle
Wooden crown - Power % & armor %
Golden Crown - better armor %

Also, just any source of energy to enable the Hunter set, make sure you have some by floor 20, I like Arcanum Robe and Pantaloons of Greatness, don't need that much, 20 - 30 is usually fine

Other than that, go farm Divine Thronglers I guess
There's not much else you need
