Airlock and Steps
So been playing around all day trying to figure out how to build my base,
only problem is the airlock and steps. Airlock fits funny on the floor tiles, and cant figure out how to attach the stepps. the Airlock falls through the ground but by now we all know that I think.

So my biggest thing is the steps, as I keep killing myself while building my base.
anyone figure out how to attach them?

I also uploaded a free roam scenerio for those who want to build from scratch

Ok Just figured out the steps. Now to figure out the airlock. . .

Hi Xendoshi! Airlock doorway was build for specific arilock chamber which has soem special parts in menu. The size of the airlock is a little different than other parts (it's like 2.2 high of a regular wall tile) and it was meant for entry point to the base where you can walk and change pressure and air. It's still work in progress but we'll try to make some reasonable tutorial about that. ;-)

Sounds Good, Just been trying to figure out what parts go where, I did figure out how to build a double wall though, interior has glass and a solid exterior, just need some functional bar lights we can stick here and there to give more life to the bases. but all n all its good I like it!

Ya im am also having issues with the fitting of pieces together example in link not sure if im just doing it wrong or there is an issue.

When i try to put them together with out the airlock door without the floor section and i get what is in the screenshot and if i dont put it in i cant place the object.

i am quite new myself and i dont get how to make the airlock, i mean its all made up but whenever i close the doors, the pressure is not going up to base pressure, anyone would enlighten me?

I am having the same problem

Hey guys, that's due to a problem with atmospheric zone generation that we are in the process of fixing right now.

all right thank you!

How to build airlock tunnels:
1. Connect a door frame "L" shape to a floor module of your habitat (floor already placed on a basement of course)
2. Use the airlock tunnel modules to build your airlock tunnel. You can create an airlock just with these modules. The modules are the ones with an "U" shape. You have 3 kind of tunnel modules: "windowed", "walled", with spacesuit holder. Watch out, the last one has a top and a bottom. Recommended: tunnels min 2 modules lenght.
3. Close the airlock tunnel with a door frame "I" shape to close the airlock tunnel. Watch out: the frame has an up/down and front/rear. You will able to add stairs just if you place the frame correctly. The attachment zone to connect stairs have to be placed ext side, and down.
4. Connect the doors to the frames. Airlock Door have to be placed on ext side (holding the door, with the tool "on", approach the door frame with the right angle). A "normal" door could be placed on int side.

Notes:
1. Airlock door on ext side (this one will pressurize the airlock tunnel)
2. "Normal" door on int side
3. for me, having a 2x2 airlock tunnel, with 2 spacesuit holders, I had to use spacesuits holders alternated with windowed tunnels (HW on one side-WH on the other side) that couse if I used 2 spacesuits holders on the same side, or facing one another, no "safe" zone.
4. if you have still problems, try to dismantle-riassemble just the doors
5. if you have still problems, try to dismantle-riassemble the whole airlock tunnel
6. if you have still problems, check carefully habitat walls with the tool "on", to see if there are still "Leaks". Once, I had a panel with just 1 (yes, 1 and not 4) "Leak" indicator.

can you give me a screenshot please

Well, they are changing all the building modules, airlocks, stairs etc, so maybe my old post will be unuseful very soon...

Danger. Necromancers.

Airlocks are a PITA right now. Try breaking out 1 block from the middle. Example you have a 3 block long airlock tunnel then decide you want to put a suit locker in it or change it to a windowed tile. Whamo.....disassembly is almost always guarenteed to send your nice airlock to the far reaches of Mars and most likely throw you skidding on your aries backwards due to part collisions. The part collisions with the airlock pieces is absolutely dreadful. You have to totally disassemble airlocks just to change one piece. Either fix the part collisions or how about giving us 1/4 airlock pieces that are smaller and easier to line up? Better yet, what about making it where you can surface attach the suit lockers. Maybe make the airlock tunnels as wide as the suit locker parts but there is a version wtih a surface attach point like the wall tile. You could then put either a control monitor there for communications or base control or attach a suit locker.

I've only done two airlocks and got them on the first try. I have yet to transition to a second module from the first one though. I found it easy to use the L-Shaped one with the bottom leg always pointed in and I used an airlock door on each side. Might have to adjust that to transiton to a 2nd chamber.

I have always used the L shaped door way on both sides.....Just attach it to the first module then attach the airlock sections then attach the 2nd doorway to the airlock tunnel you built. I use normal doors on both ends but the 2nd L shaped doorway should be attached so that the side that noramlly attaches to the module floor is the outside (not attached to the airlock tube).
