'Visual C++ Runtime' is not a 'third party application'.
It is an essential Microsoft runtime to run ANY game on your OS. Without it (or rather 'them' - there are 10+ different versions), NO video game will run.
Usually, the game installs these runtimes on first start, triggered by the Steam installscript.vdf file and the executables are stored these days in:
~\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\
If you get this "Visual C++ Runtime" error, it means, you are missing the 'right' version on your Windows system (or Mac/Linux Sub-System Emu).
