Lagging/Choppiness?
Ok so the last few times I've played this, the game is - choppy. Noticeable delay affects all animations - even the animations on the title screen. In fact it affects literally everything in the game, from mouse-clicking to highlighting and so on. It's affecting me right now as I type this, with the game in the background.

Sometimes when I reboot everything runs smoothly, but more often lately it's still choppy.

So the thing is, I know my rig can run this game totally smoothly since it has already done so. None of my hardware has changed. Does anyone know what is causing this choppiness?

I could also use an answer to this as I now periodically get extreme choppiness. The tedious solution seems to be to reboot the game.

I did not have this problem when I played back in May.

try turning vsync off

Same thing here, on linux if it matters, stutter and chopness on videos, every animation, and didn't even start the game yet...

It's not V-Sync, but it must be some sort of processing conflict. I'm running off an SSD, this thing should be as slick as greased butter.

Same, tried without vsync, looked good at first but immediately became unplayable..

I have it sometimes too, but I think it's a bug.

If you're having this issue, are you on linux also?
I've just started playing SOMA and that had some chopness too...
I have a feeling its f*cked up steam libraries...

Running on Win 7 x64 here.

Win 7 x64 on a SSD as well. Weird.

Well I can't why for you then, but the killing chopness indeed fixed by removing troublesome run-time libraries

+1 for this so hope the devs see it to get a fix out soon.

Same rig, smooth as play before this, now suddenly stuttering a lot, but in certain consistent places. On OS X.

Only started noticing after I purchased Contingency Plan, but not sure if that's the culprit though.

Been choppy for a long time now, turning off vsync worked for me.

Tried that and didn't work. I'm playing at 800x600 to help mitigate the lag but of course it's no fun at that screen reso.

Update from my end. The problem persists but I just keep rebooting until the game runs smoothly. Usually takes 3 or 4 reboots. To be clear - I'm just rebooting the game, not my entire computer.

Very weird problem. It has _nothing_ whatsoever to do with settings or graphic options.
