Guard movement
Hello everyone!

I come here because i just got an issue ig, something went wrong and i don't know why.
I have 166 hours on Invisible Inc. and i slowly learned all the rules that apply in any situation, guard movements, cones of visions etc... And today something weird happens and it questions that rule i thought i knew.

Here's basically the setup:
There is one guard on a tile facing north, he is going to investigate 3 tiles north of him next turn, going straight forward and then checking 180 degrees.
My character(Banks) is positionned just left(west) of him, close enough to steal from him.
In that case what always happened to me is that the guy walk thoses 3 tiles and investigate, without seeing Banks at all(even if she's super close to him but that's how it always worked).

This time, i don't know why, when the enemy turn began, the guard instantly turned to Banks and pointed a gun at here, and i have no idea why.

Can anyone tell me if this is a bug or if this is a really specific situation that made this happen.
I don't really care about the run i can always restart, but if there is another rule specific to that situation that i should understand i'd really like to so i can be better prepared for the next one.

Thanks ;).

Needs more information. We're any other points of interest generated? Did a door or invisible character or other guard at some point "block" the planned guard route?

Sometimes the depicted route does not always match the move, but it has always been clear for me why (albeit sometimes only in retrospect).

Yup! So here is what happened:
I opened a door on first turn(only door in initial turn), a guard was 2 or 3 tile away facing that door, he saw the door opening(i was on the side he didn't saw me) and decided to investigate the tile at the door(initial room side ofc). I had partial cover(yellow) so i hid my two agents(Banks and Xu).
Enemy turn 1: He comes to the tile inside the room just after the door, investigates in a 180
" hmm, nothin' ". Then i need to get him to investigate inside the room so i can pass freely and he doesn't come back to his stationnary spot and(looked stationnary) and blocks me more.
so Xu comes into a light red area 3 tiles front and a bit on the left of the guard(don't remeber the exact position). and xu comes back to a safe position on the left of Banks(who is on the left of the guard).
So the guard was actually going 3 tiles in the front, then turn Two tiles to the left to investigate, It's kinda hard to explained it cause there was cover also.. i'll try to make a simple drawing of it ^^.

No invisibility, No other points of interests, no path blocked.

The route through Banks is actually 1 shorter, so that is the route the guard would try to take (6.5 for the route you marked, so 7, compared to 6 for the route through your agent).

If the point of interest were one up, the routes would be equidistant, then I guess the guard would take the "initial" path?

Holy "something", you're right ^^. That's probably exactly what happened.
The path didn't updated, since, if i recall right, Xu moved to lure the guard, then i checked the path of the guard with Banks, and then Xu moved another time to lure the guard, since the initial "luring tile" was too close(he'd seen xu at the end), and i didn't checked "again" his path with banks, so the path i had was the previous one.

I mean, what i should learn from that is to check a guard's path always as a last thing after moving everyone, since it doesnt update instantly ? i thought it did actually. Or maybe i should calculate the different path each time i'm in a similar situation and check for the fastest one. So i can't trust the path told by the game ?

I think the number of times you change the path is certainly a factor.

Yep could be :p.
Thanks for the help ;)
