I'm quite happy they didn't provide us with "normal" difficulty.
I beleive this game stays at closest to Invisible Inc. in many aspects: difficulty, length, endless mode, etc. But first of all because of the set of charming characters which have distinct skills and traits, which strongly influence the playthrough.
I dare to say this is the best designed bunch of characters in the whole indie/roguelike/strategy industry.
1. Invisible, Inc.
2. Desperados: Wanted Dead Or Alive
3. XCOM: Enemy Within
4. Warlords Battlecry II. I played this a ton when I was a kid.
5. Dungeon Keeper I
Never got into "pure" strategy games like Civilisation or Heroes of Might and Magic, oddly enough, though they're a big part of my childhood. But that was mostly just messing around and playing with the map editor for HoMM, not playing it "properly".
2. X-Com 1
3. Dawn of War 2
4. Slay the Spire
5. Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Technically speaking by the way, this is a tactical game. I know the industry doesnt make that distinction and that is fair enough but tactics is more about field actions, stradegy is more top level.
so on that note, still to this day Silent Storm is my favorite tactical game
