Can I Exploit Chapter One Forever?
I've conquered everything in Chapter One except the enemy capital. Wouldn't it make sense for me to hold off conquering it while stockpiling research and gold in preparation for Chapter Two? Is there any drawback to this? If not, it seems a bit ripe for exploitation.

There's an upper limit to how much research and gold you can have stockpiled, and many researches won't unlock until chapter 2 starts. However, cards do carry over, so you could certainly build up a deck full of mercenaries and actions.

I've been told that there's some kind of anti-farming mechanism in place. I know that the turn before I took the enemy capital, I recieved a warning about Imp thieves greedily eyeing my treasury.

Yeah I got that warning too, but there doesn't seem to be any reason to conquer the capital until I at least research everything right?

You're not supposed to do that. Don't blame Larian if you get bored from exploiting the game by building up a zillion gold and research points so you can steamroll everything. There's more than enough playing properly. Just research Ironclads and finish the chapter.

heh, I just feel that the transition between Chapter One to Chapter Two could be handled a bit better. When is the right time to conquer it? For example, I felt like I could have conquered the enemy capital on turn four, but then would I be at a disadvantage for later chapters?

EDIT: Love the game so far!

There's nothing wrong with getting a bit of research points and gold. Sorry, I think I was confusing you with a guy who mentioned using an exploit to hang around getting 2-300 gold.
I would grab all the other territory and research Ironclads before I take the capital. Chapter 2 isn't set up in quite the same way as Chapter 1, the entire map isn't already occupied.
Yeah, don't make my mistake and forget to research Ironclads, though. You NEED those for a good start in Chapter 2.
