What happened with this game?
I paid extra money - $25 or so maybe - on Kickstarter to get this, and now see it's down to $4.

Were sales bad? Reception bad? Is there a story? I haven't played it yet.

PC Gamer scored it 95 which is very good. The game has positive Steam reviews.

It also seems odd base is $4 and deluxe is $45.

it's a old game, no one will pay full price for it when they can buy a new divinity game

Before I decide to buy a game I look around the internet for the best price I could get. I bought this game today because it belongs to the Black Friday sale on steam and Im happy I did it. :steamhappy:
Man this is a game which is relesed in 2013.It's a very old game now.Normally after being relesed a year game will on sale for 50off or more or put their price lower. This i think is a common sense.

And by the way i think this game is fun too you should really try it.
And as far as i know this game is a sacrifice for Divinity original sin.Larin studio started developed this game at the same time and met some economic problem so they have to choose complete which one.At last they choose Divinity Original Sin instead of Dragon commander. So When this game relesed it exits a lot of problem and get bad review. Then it may...affect this game's sale.

What i hear is Like this.I dont know if it is true.
If you are interested in the story you can read this article. It's written in chinese. But i think you may be able to read it with google translation.

Who funds a Kickstarter game, then waits 4 years after release before they actually play it?

OP must have a monster ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game backlog....

You have no idea. I have games I own with three sequels needing to play the first one.

It's thousands of games.

Varian Studios does not respect it's consumers. I mean if you bought into the Kickstarter after watching their videos begging people to give them money... Well. I'm sorry man.

So Craig, your back log is apparenty thousands of games. I would not recommend buying new games in your situation, either clean out your backlog of games you are never going to play or only get games after they've been out 2 years and generally get a 75% price reduction.

assuming a 60 dollar game, thats going to save you 45 bucks.

a 90% price reduction is extreme. the studio HAS recouped all its costs its going to, by this point however, so the question is whether they'll make more money selling it for 4 bucks + the value that will have bringing new people into the franchise or for selling if for a less steep sale.

its a black friday doorbuster, and since it costs them nothing its a fine canidate for drawing people's attention.

OP I think you are thinking of the wrong game as far as i know this game did not have a kickstarter what you may have backed was divinity original sin 2 which is out already.

This game did not have a kickstarter. You probably got it in a tier while backing D:OS
