2. Type DXDIAG and click the button OK from the Run window.

Errr... nevermind. It fixed it in my headphones, but not desktop.
I am listening this on my studio headphones and the quality is just garbage. It's most likely game engine issue, because I've played other SPIDERS games (quite recently) and this has never happened.
Basically, this required them to actually fix the damn thing and release a patch, which they never bothered doing. This is why you have so many bugs, like your companions just getting stuck in the environment.
