See a pattern here Steam/Apple/Microsnot all saying 50-Gigabytes of SSD empty space is not enough room to install this tiny 40mb software.
No wonder people give up.
If all else fails, send an email to Jason.Carver@encore.com and I'll get you in the Support System and address this further.
Will do.... and gotta say Im surprised there was anyone home.. Thank you.
Running the latest version of W10 Beta here.
I'm not running Insider Previews but I can request that our testers run that to see if Apple is blocked on test builds of Windows 10.
P.S.
Demoralised again; we just discovered we cant follow the instructions in your link.
>> Please use the following steps to resolve the issue:
Open the Control Panel.
Locate and open Programs.
Double click to open Programs and Features.
Scroll through the program list to QuickTime.
Click QuickTime to highlight the program.
Click Uninstall. Click Uninstall. Click Uninstall.
Follow the prompts to uninstall QuickTime
Install Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.<<
Because QuickTime will not install in the first place, so it cant be un-installed, if it isn`t there.
EDIT
Attempting to install a new downloaded version from Apple; but that also refuses to install with the same error message. Maybe it doesn`t like Windows 10 on SSD.
Its too tiring for my daughter & I anymore.
Overlapped.
we just tried that.
Running as Admin, and have disabled firesteam wall briefly.
We eventried swopping out the QT file in mbtt for the newer one.
Do you have over 50Gb spare hdd space btw?
Windows successfullly scanned the drive. No errors were found.
Must be a Microsloth Windows 10 BETA branch problem.... coupled with Quicktime being unable to see 50Gigabytes as larger than 40mb.
Quitting.
Its too much of a pain.
We are using the non-English version of Windows 10 set to English; but over 750+ programs on Steam work on 2 or 3 very similar (W10) systems in this same household without problem.
We also tried this...
https://tommynation.com/install-quicktime-windows-10/
But its also a complete timewaste.
The day/date is set to English ABC as we know (from hard experience) that some software will not work if the PC set to Kanji Date/Day.
Its painful even responding, due to how much effort we put into trying to get it to work.
"Important: QuickTime 7 for Windows is no longer supported by Apple. New versions of Windows since 2009 have included support for the key media formats, such as H.264 and AAC, that QuickTime 7 enabled. ............................ "

So, Mavis Beacon cannot work on a Windows 10 system, (but you might strike lucky if you have maybe a particular version of Windows 10, and are willing to go through an assault course that would test the computing skills of a software tester and the patience of a saint.

The link above is partly correct:-
QUOTE
"I tried to install QuickTime today on Windows 10, but was soon halted by a stupid check that Apple has built in to the installation file, preventing installation of QuickTime on a newer OS such as Windows 10".
REPEAT
............. but was soon halted by a stupid check that Apple has built in to the installation file, >>> preventing installation of QuickTime on a newer OS such as Windows 10.<<<

But.....
The fix doesn`t work with the latest version of Windows 10.
Microsoft sell a QuickTime player for between $7 & $10 on their store, co-incidentally.
Who wouldda guessed.
But will it still prevent the installation of Mavis Beacon? Darn right it will.
