"Tower Collector" Medal / Achievement impossible?

Has anyone beat this medal challenge? On the PS3 version it was MUCH easier, since there weren't as many towers to build. I've tried it probably 5 times now. I unlock the Gem Tower first since they produce gems when they die in attempt to get enough gems by the end. I always end up having to sell all my purple/black towers in order to unlock all the towers on the boss wave, but then I have no real attack power to defeat him. It's driving me crazy.

You need to use the gem towers on other groups of fodder towers to sell at purple and black for earlier gems. Dance towers black and immeditely sell and replace to maintain all types. It's not hard, just takes a couple of goes to find the correct early towers to buy.

I had every tower up, I'm sure of it (even had an active Gem Tower up to be sure), and I cleared the boss. This is like the 30th time I've run the level.

And it still says I fail.

The only thing I'm NOT doing, which I feel would be impossible ... Do I have to use 7 gems to buy one round of "Interest" to clear it?

Please help!

This is indeed impossible.

This was pre-gem-tower update, so there are only 9 towers to unlock/build. With this game fully updated, there are 12 towers to unlock/build (gem tower, lightning tower, and trap tower). You need an additional 45 more gems to do the unlocking. Just not possible.

Edit: Once I started following the patterns in this video, I got the trophy on my first attempt!

I just did the same thing. Sold black and purple flags for gems, used gem towers. Built at least one of every tower. Boss dies, challenge is marked failed. Inexplicable. You can't hold one of the toughest achievements hostage behind a bug like this.
