Welcome to FOMO tactics. "Spend gems if you want it NOW!" Wait a week if you want to make the sensible choice.

it's normal in all types of games.
Everything that is "new" is never free. :income:

Therein lies the problem. This shouldn't be normalized.

Also, a few games don't do it.

They do. It's the same thing with CoD charging extra for "3 days early access." Especially in Smite's case/HiRez games where they have a pure history of releasing things totally overpowered and then nerfing them predictably shortly after, people want to play gods right away. In Smite 2's case, with lots of ported gods getting ridiculous buffs, yeah, FOMO.

You shilling or something?

releasing new gods/champions/whatever slightly overpowered is a common thing in any game. Ideally you want to make a balanced release, but it's not possible if you dont have any hard data yet(stats from played games), which you won't have until after release. You also don't want to release anything underpowered, because then nobody will play it, so (slightly) OP new stuff is what usually happens. This is not to be confused with FOMO, because FOMO is something else entirely. FOMO means "you have to get this thing now, otherwise you won't be able to buy it later". FOMO is stuff like exclusive skins, most battlepasses and, to give the recent example, the jump stump that you can get from the valentine's date event or the cacodemon Ymir skin that you can't get anymore.

Also you don't know what a "shill" is. To be a shill implies to be paid to cover something in a positive light. I doubt that you can prove that I've been paid by anyone to explain things here on the forums, or do you have some proofs?
Woah, free game doesn't mean everything free? Grug mad

You're playing semantics badly. They've been doing Smite for at least 13 years between the first and second one. Every single god release, rework and port has been overpowered and by pretty big margins. Pretending this is some mistake calls into question your integrity. You're being a blind fanboy or are a shill, simple as. No sane person would say what you did without being paid to lmao.
Smite 2 makes it clear that if you want all the gods you have to get the God Pack or Founders pack. And if your someone who isn't happy with getting 1 free god token per level, then your an entitled brat. Smites monetization is pretty ethical which is better then most games. For the cost of a indie game (30 dollars), you receive all present and future gods.
Its a decent price to pay.......and its not worth getting your panties in a bunch over
You guys cant be serious hahahaha
Smite 2 has a really dumb restriction for god tokens. Any recently released god cannot be purchased with a god token for the first two weeks of their release. It is a very lame restriction to have especially on Smite 1 gods.
