Can someone explain to me the difference from Smite and SMite2, i barely see any
I played the game in alpha and beta (Smite [1]) and didn't play for a long time. Now that Smite 2 is coming out, what exactly changes except a mini grafical update and evne BIGGER that I lose all my skins I ever bought and get 'forced' to still use money to buy new ones even though my old ones get converted into stuff?"

does the game have new mechanics, or is it just the same as OW2 but without all skins going over?

and what about the old game, will Smite1 be killed like OW1? or will the playerbase be split into Smite1 where people wanna paly with their skins and Smite2 with all F2p players?

It won't be a full blown remake of Smite in its entirety, it will keep the core of what it the game it is because that is what was loved. Everything is rebuilt from the ground up to a modern standard this means painstakingly remodeling and animating every character and their kit using the new tech. They are also making revisions of the god's abilities where either interesting or necessary, like Ymir's new wall jump functionality. On top of that a bunch of new gameplay elements have also been added to spice things up.

To have to middle with the devs on purchasing entirely new skins is a necessary compromise to make a project like this even possible. I hear that any content that is transferred will be able to be bought with pure legacy gems.

in short they are making a large leap in the engine.
all gems you've spent in smite 1 will be in smite 2 ready to use (provided you've linked your accounts).

if you buy one of the founder packs you get 2x the gems you've bought/spent in smite 1. i'm not sure if this also includes gems you've gotten from daily logins or season pass, i'm guessing no, but they didn't say "used" unless i'm mistaken.

the main thing is the engine.. the more updated it is, the more they can potentially do with it.
I would expect some bugs and other issues till the dev team is actually more savvy with the new engine.. but that's just speculation.

i would assume smite 1 population would die down as people move into smite 2.. how long till smite 1 is dead really just comes down to how many stop playing smite 1. They don't have plans to kill it off, but i'd say it will happen at some point.

thing is you don't NEED to spend any money on this game or smite 1. it's free, you can unlock god with favor (at least i think that's how it works, i bought the god pack 11yrs ago so i don't completely remember).
you get free gems from logging in, so worse case you'll still be able to buy gods with that also. along with the weekly rotation of gods so you're not stuck playing the same ones if you don't buy any gods.

They haven't been able to drain money from your wallet with smite 1 for awhile, so they just remade the same game and put it back out and are making you repurchase everything.

That is the only difference, greed.

What's the difference in rosters?

In the beginning, I heard all gods would not be available at launch (not sure how many at full launch) but eventually every God in Smite 1 will be in Smite 2 plus more since we already now Hecate will be in Smite 2 at launch and will not be in Smite 1

Much smaller roster for smite 2 on start. it will have some new gods but we be losing more than half the gods from smite 1 on release. It is said that they will be adding them at fast pace so in other words smite 2 will be in a catch up mode for a while. Also it's worth mentioning that from the look of it the outdated gods will still be mechanically outdated.

Also about the gems, guy above keeps stating that you getting all your smite 1 gems transferred to smite 2 is simply not true unless I missed some big announcements. What you will be getting is legacy gems equal to your total gems ever owned in smite 1. These legacy gems wont even allow you to buy a full skin, and will only pay for half the price of select skins. People really seem to be missing the wording that devs used, that 'select' does gods work there. My guess is that anything reworked from smite 1 will be something you can use that 50% off cupon on basically, mean while anything entirely new will require you to pay full price with all new gems.

Correction, you will get 50% off on ANYTHING, they have referred to both battle passes and new skins as having that discount. (excluding cross-over content)

It is also stated by many that old smite 1 content transferred can be 100% acquired with pure legacy gems, so you don't have to pay anything for something you already could have owned.

If Smite 1 didn't interest you, then neither will this. It's enticing to the rest of us, because it's an updated engine and graphics. Don't expect any big changes to the formula here.
