There is no obligation to pay to join these probably broken as heck initial tests. You can just join the rest when they've reached a later stage in development and keep the servers open for longer periods of time, if you want the founders content you still have a lot of time to get it. It is only the 1 Ymir skin that is exclusively awarded to the initial alpha participants.
You're not really paying to play alpha. You pay to get all gods for free, everytime a new one is released. Which is a pretty good deal, considering a single god cost 5-10dollars.
That you can playtest Alpha and give feedback to development is up to you.
Imagine is league of legends had that. Everyone would have bought a founders pack instantly.
