There will be many players who will be devoted to the classics and vice versa who will want a new experience. Smite 1 will actually slowly die until fans of the classics give up and switch to a new game or abandon the game because of its player count. Smite 1 will die much faster than Smite 2, you will see.

Yeah but keeping 1 will be pretty dangerous because it is already dying with low player count. smite 2 release will divide 1 even more and if 2 doesn't get good player count they will both die and boom massive failure.

once smite 2 gets most the gods that smite 1 has they probably will, smite 1 already isnt getting any new gods, all new gods are for smite 2 now, smite 2 will also get all the god reworks people have been wanting, for now its not gonna do much its alpha weekends only so for now people cant play smite 2 during the week and from what i hear its 1 alpha weekend a month until beta

This is just like ARK, it sucks, every developer makes a better game even if its exactly like their old one and say its a "new" game, They should've merged this with the original smite.
I like smite 2, I love the skin but I ain't getting it because I do not want to support these greedy companies.

we need people to keep playing the original game and not their "Smite 2" so we can tell the developers we don't want a second game and they should just upgrade their first game.

It doesn't make sense to make a brand new "game" and not just update their first game with a new engine, I wonder why developers don't want to do that.

But, atlas, there will be people out their that will eat garbage because they can and don't care.

I actually appreciate such idea. So they let people switch to smite 2 slowly and on their own decision, while leaving a possibility for players to play an old game. It is obvious they will close smite 1 with time, but they will do it once they are sure just a small minority of players will be affected. And in the meantime they made it much better than OW2 and CS2 did, people still can choose what to play and finally more people will switch to smite 2
