🤔 Do I need to reinstall Smite 1 to link my account to Smite 2? 🤔

All of my accounts: "Smite 1", "Paladins" and "Rogue Company" are linked to my Steam account.

Will Smite 2 automatically recognize and link my Hi-Rez account and all of my Smite 1 progress, or do I need to reinstall Smite 1 just to do that?

It's a good idea to launch Smite 1 (do any necessary linking) and then launch Smite 2, yes.

Sorry I am not going to re-download 40 gigs of a game I am not interested of playing just to see whether or not Smite 2 is less of a mess than its predecessor.

If launching Smite 1 is REQUIRED to link anything despite my hi-rez account already being linked to this steam account, then it just shows that nothing has changed about the legendary "Low-Rez polish".

To put it simply YES you do have to launch smite 1 to link your accounts cause smite 2 no longer bases connections off the old hi rez accounts. It's tied directly to the platform you're using it on (Steam, epic, etc). So you need to go into smite 1 and click the divine legacy link to setup the bridge.

Once its setup you can chuck smite 1 back in the rubbish bin.

Things to take note:
1) Playstation based accounts are buggy as heck. Quite a few come on here and need mod support to get things linked up properly. No idea why maybe hirez and sony aren't on good conversation lists.
2) If you link on epic but buy the founders pack on steam there's going to be errors in whats available. As above, the game now is tied to the platform through which you use it rather than a third party developer account. So if you want everything you're pretty much tied to one platform until they make crossplatform account activity a thing.

For me, all I did was link my smite 2 account to steam where my smite 1 account was already bound to. This caused the next time I logged in to say "Oh hey your so and so, here you go."

Hi, I still have problems. I installed Smite 2 first, but I remember that I've had Smite connected to Steam for a long time. But in Smite 2, no matter what I do, I don't get any crystals. The green tick on my legacy in Smite 1 is already there, but I can't click anything anymore. Do you have any ideas, because Hirez Support hasn't helped me for weeks...

It appears that your SMITE 1 account was linked to some other Epic account that's not the one linked to your SMITE 1 nor SMITE 2 accounts. I have unlinked the other Epic account and linked to your proper Epic/Steam accounts.
