Late game he feels good to play but every other mage also does good damage late game so you're much better off picking a mage that doesn't have such a terrible early/mid game.
okay good it's not just me, i like his kit but you're right just tweak the cool down on his spells or increase the damage of them. I feel useless with him where as other mages just own.
People just utterly fail to understand the purpose of that aspect. It's about high rolling a dumb combination twice in a row.
You don't want every low power cool down item in the game and get lucky more often while doing nothing when it happens.
Early game is rough but just go for the basic high power mage build. Non-aspect if you want to be way more reliable. Frost in lane arcane in jungle. Fire should only be used when you know you can really get away with it.
His lategame is actually pretty nice, he's just very back loaded in the power department, but a well placed arcane combo over the wall while both teams run around in the jungle can legit just win.
I personally don't like him much but imo people make him look was worse than he is.
