lost 3/4 of playerbase.
just like myself many smite players quit due to smite 2 killing off our collection of skins. making 3/4+ of the smite player base quit.

i see smite 1 and 2 shutting down in 2 years.

this isn't a april fools joke. it's a calling the developers fools on april fools seriously statement.

If your concern is skins that they're literally doing their best to bring back as much of, then you were never a true supporter of the game to begin with, nobody will miss you.

I mean it was bound to happen, if they weren't so lazy and money hungry they could of just ported the original to UE5 but instead they went down the shady marketing tactic route and named a engine port a successor to their original game.

In all honestly they deserve to crumble and fail the only reason why they didn't just upgrade the original game is because it would take more time and effort to port peoples skins etc. And naming it a sequel attracts new players. They treat their playerbase like garbage It's no surprise their "sequel" was a flop, Whoever is in charge of making decisions at hirez/titan forge games is a monkey.

Just another case of delusional developers discarding their original playerbase to attract a imaginary new target audience that simply doesn't exist.

This guy gets it. They didnt have to wait so long to begin the porting process, but because they waited this long AND made shady business choices regarding skins carrying over OF COURSE people aren't happy. This is a problem they brought onto themselves by not making smart choices when they should have. Letting smite 1 stay on UE3 for so long was an incredibly dumb move.

Smite 2 is nowhere near a sequel, there are NO improvements. Its the SAME GAME as smite 1, just with a TRASH monetization scheme and even worse mechanics(because they're from smite 1, old as ♥♥♥♥. for a sequel you'd expect improvements.) Smite 2 is obviously just an attempt by Hi-Rez to have their community spend money again, and people ARE NOT HAPPY about it.

"there are no improvements" item actives?, god aspects?, jungle buff effects, no more physical and magical item limitations, "any god, any role" approach, better graphics and gameplay. have you played the game at all?

You are giving 2 years for smite 1 and 2 to shutdown? I think you're being too nice, this is going to happen in 1 year tops because they lost 50% of their player base therefore they lost a of their revenue and income, or they fire employees or shutdown the game.

well the company who bought out hi-rez deserves to lose money. stupid ass blackrock based management companies buy out development studios and kill games for their own greed.

one of those companies bought out runescape, but since jagex already listened to the playerbase they were forced to stay with the jagex approach, and then they made osrs.
tbh the only management company that ever did good was the one with runescape. osrs was a legendary move out of any game company. the first remake with a plus addition done via mmo. if Blizzard would of done a plus instead of trash barebones classic wow, it would of done good off rip. but the community missed the old nostalgic feel of classic wow. which i understand 100% back then it was amazing.. just like jet set radio future, back in 2005 it was the best game ever... but after downloading a emulator and playing jsrf i realized the controls/ mechanics were trash. great for 2005. but in 2025 they suck, and compared to BRC they suck.

why did i got off topic?? oooh yeah started with management companies that buy out dev studios and kill them. i think they're doing it purposely at this point. look at the company that bought out sony online or w/e it's called the and killed that one upcoming mmo that millions were stoked about. they ended up killing that game completely and made a stupid build your own house game out of the mmo, and then expected people to pay for sht.

why did i go off topic again?

simple, management companies are owned by the people who own stocks/shares. meaning those people who own stocks/shares can manipulate these companies. so they can force a game studio to make ridiculous moves killing that game/ studio. and 99.9% of people who own stocks/shares in these management companies know 0.1% of gaming or a game. but they're already billionaires usually, so the less than 50 million spent on the game company by the management company isn't much of a loss to these billionaire stock holders.

and that's how you manipulate a online game market for mmos, you need to have a few billionaires that own shares in every game, and then they kill off this/that game, and care about the revenue of this game.

reason you don't see many indie developers sell their studios like (stardew valley) and many more is, they're not a online game with a cash shop. and if they do sell out, it's to claim assets so they can put a copyright on it. the isles for instance bought a pvp dinosuar game just to claim the assets.

could be a management company tied to LoL that wanted to kill off smite, because smite made a decent share of money, and imho is better. but LoL makes dramatically more money, and is the king of mobas... so fuel to the king, kill the prince..

i hope the stock/share holders whole families fly over the Bermuda triangle.

nah if you learned to properly read and understand things then you'd understand this. smite 2 was a money move, not only was it a money move, the original intention was the kill off smite 1, what happens when smite 1 is killed off? all the skins/ voice packs are killed off. what is next move from there to make money? start reintroducing smite 1 skins into smite 2, however the catch is, you have to buy the skins again.. so the transfer from smite 1 to smite 2 will be meaningless, and only available for say so skins, wasting skins like (2016 exlcusive) (season pass 12) and (limited) to eventually bring them into smite 2, but you have to go through means of reobtaining them making you spend more money.

smite 2 is only a money move.

cool story, did you know the WoW community asked for classic regular instead of classic plus and well.... 95% of the player base including the (needs to be exactly classic original) nerds quit in the first 3 months.

hero siege use to be a roguelite based diablo game, the community wanted this and that changed for the game, making it more of a diablo game with a fraction of the roguelite elements it use to have. meaning the community ruined the game, hero siege was AMAZING before the (community) ruined it.

a gaming community isn't always a good thing when they have say. a lot of the runescape updates and additions the (community) wants are pretty whack imho.
I never spent a single cent on Smite 1. Had 2.2k hours in it..... I dont understand how you guys think those skins should be given away for free in Smite 2.. Like the game is free and most ppl arent going to spend money on skins...

They are a business and need to make money. Probably is the case that making a f2p game is just a bad idea full stop.

cool, you had lame skins, 12 voice packs and a smite account worth 11 dollars.

i had 20+ limited skins, every voice pack, and a smite account worth more than your steam game collection.

if you can't understand that, then you probably shouldn't even waste your mental capacity here.

First of all your smite account was worth nothing. Buying skins or gems isn't an investment it's knowingly setting cash on fire.
Just like a person's worth isn't derived by how much food they've purchased and eaten.

Also f2p payer here (excluding the god pack).
I had every emote and voice pack, a bunch of limited, tier 4 and 4.5 skins and even some t5.

The amount of stuff you got for free through events and chests was actually substantial.

Some people being more reasonable with their spending habits doesn't put you above them.
And what is your account worth now? Just wanna know if your investment paid off.

POV: lil buddy angies because he was dumb enough to spend money on a free game yet is apparently intellectually superior.

the people crying about skins are all losers...pathetic losers. The game will shutdown because the balance is an absolute joke. rather than be creative 1/2 of the gods ults are just gigantic one shotting circles and every passive is something to do with building stacks.

It's a doomsayer fest around here.

If you don't enjoy the game, just move your butt elsewhere holy freaking Christ.
The immaturity, toxicity & negativity is baffling --- Just like your typical conquest-Chat when the match starts to go wrong.
This is an exact representation of why the game is actually dying. A bunch of cry baby bots that don't understand that they already got their "moneys worth" out of the skins they bought. You had over a decade to play this game, which means you had over a decade to enjoy all the things you decided to spend your money on. No company, ever, owes anyone free cosmetic transfer. That isn't a thing and won't ever be a thing, especially not in a decade old game on a 2 generation old platform. These same clowns are the ones that downvoted the reddit posts explaining how this doesn't make any financial sense, outside of it not making any sense at all in general. Absolute bunch of dorks.

okay doofus, you make a decent point but you're still wrong.

When you already paid for the skins you shouldn't have to buy them again to have them, crazy
