SMITE 2

Add Surrender Penalty
More than 60% of my SMITE 2 games (very similar to SMITE 1) end in surrenders.

I almost exclusively play as a 5-man, so we rarely surrender. Would rather lose and have fun than spend all afternoon fishing for the "perfect game".

60% is not an exaggeration, either. The MAJORITY of my wins recently have come from a surrender. I'm BEGGING Hi-Rez to implement some sort of disincentive for surrendering.

Maybe even a check to see if a game is unreasonably close for surrender? (Within 2k gold or 5 kills, as an arbitrary suggestion).

It also saddens me to see the retirement of "surrender at 10". Now, teams appear to be able to surrender as early as 8m30s into the game. It is absurd that there isn't some sort of 5-10 minute penalty for surrendering -- or at least for CONTINUED surrenders.

I really do enjoy SMITE 2, and I'm excited to see the legacy Gods return -- but I legitimately fear the game will not survive if this trend continues.

nope, this should never happen too many games are one sided and a punishment to play, plus it just encourages afking instead of surrendering so that wouldn't solve the problem either. i agree some teams surrender too early but i would rather that then people not play at all

Which part did you take issue with? The penalty?

the penalty yes, like i said if people can't just quit they'll afk instead which just makes the match even worse for the other team
no, there was no penalty in smite 1 there should be no penalty in smite 2

simply put this would kill off any original and new playerbase.

just move on to the next match or get a team

"I almost exclusively play as a 5-man"

Just got off a 5 game session with my 5 stack. Of those 5 games, 3 were surrenders.

The only 2 that weren't were the games that we lost. You know -- and finished the game like we committed to when we queued up?

We can agree that AFK players are not good for anyone -- what if they implemented an AFK threshold?

Not something that would instantly kick the player, but something that would mark them as "idle" and penalize them for it. Hi-Rez is too lax on the punishments. (Until it comes to trash talk -- then they're very ban happy).
Plays with a coordinated 5 man group, knowing it's an unfair advantage, obviously out play 5 strangers playing together with no communication but VGS, they snowball as it's an easy thing to do in smite. WhY Do MoSt Of ThE GaMeS EnD In SuRrEnDeR?

"Unfair" to play with friends? In a game that has a fleshed out quick-chat system and VOIP?

What a silly position to take. Maybe learn VGS commands, and make some friends while you're at it if you think its "unfair". :csgo_loser:

but what do you expect from random pugs fighting against a fully coordinated 5-man stack?

Better to surrender than to keep getting rolled over and over, especially when only one side is having fun. We all know where it's heading, better to save time, so it only makes sense.

You're just salty that your "fun" match is getting cut short.
at least the upside is now you can relate to men who have PE.

Also surrendering has always been in Smite 1, with no penalty, and i don't expect that to change.

/thread imo
In my l4d2 days they would call this pubstomping. full team vs randoms. those 60% of the games they surrender? Probably aren't going against a 5 man. probably a team of 2 and then 3 randoms. That 40% your losing, probably full premades like yours. give about 10% margin of error either way for either stat.

Then look at you, coming in here saying they should be punished for not wanting to get pubstomped. You should be ashamed. Go queue as a 2 man team and get into some of those vs 5 premade with your three randos in there. Now do that 60% of the time, and remember if you get frustrated and want to surrender you're going to be penalized.

My god. The audacity of it.

Even on the rare occurrence I solo queue/queue with only one other player, we STILL don’t surrender. It’s a matter of principle. If you’re okay with being a quitter, that’s your prerogative.

Not even remotely ashamed.

Read above. Surrendering is for quitters. Don’t queue if you’re going to cut your game short lol.

This post isn’t an ego boost, it was made after 3 back-to-back surrenders. Cope harder, then F6

A team to play against. Custom match.
