Crash problem

Hi, I don't see anyone else talking about this so I'm just going to make this post. After the newest update Smite 2 has began to freezing my PC randomly after the game has been on for sometime (5-25 mins) I figured this was a bug that was going to be fixed soon. Until 1 week later my friend got the game too and he has the same problem.

The PC just freezes up and you cant do anything, only way to be freed from the crash is by holding down the power button. Please fix this quick, we cant play the game before this gets patched.

Before I get a whole bunch of comments about updating drivers or something, this only happens with smite 2 and I have tried every troubleshoot I came across

Since the developers are more active on reddit, i will post the thread in here and do a short TL;DR of what they have found so far. The issue COULD be more serious than we first thought so please take your time to read what they are saying in the thread

But basically, it appears to be an issue with 13 and 14 gen Intel CPUs. Im not the most educated on the matter so again, please read the developers comments on reddit. But a lot of these intel CPUs have a bug where they are slowly degrading and breaking over time and worst case they will completely die after a while. Intel themselves has adressed this issue and made BIOS updates you can download to prevent futher damage to your CPUs. It cannot revert damage already done, but can prevent it from getting worse. Please beware the dangers that comes with updating BIOS and please do your own research before doing anything. Because of this issue, these CPUs have extended warranty

Once again, im not that well educated on the matter, but read the reddit thread and do your own research on the matter, but it appears that this is the root of the issue in smite, since the affected CPUs appear to be the ones having issues in Smite 2 aswell. You might be affected.

JonBee, I'm also active in that thread (Ninjabob0521). Looks like for 12th gen Intel processors, they don't have any sort of fix yet, since it crashes both in DX12 and DX11.

Had it a few times now. Had to reinstall iCue as the crashes somehow messed it up?

Edit applied to intel fix and seems ok now

I updated my BIOS and that appears to have resolved the issue for me so far (played 2 arena games and 4 conquest with no crashes).

BIOS update did nothing for me, Its still crashing, I'v tried everything the developer's have suggested on Smite Discord, Steam forums and Reddit. Nothing has fixed the issue for me. So am I just ♥♥♥♥♥♥? Can't I play the game I payed 99.99€ for anymore?

Oh I remember; Hey! The game is buggy and unstable but its the engine and not the coding. Nice to see its all better now in Smite 2.

i have had the same issue with entire pc freezing requiring a full reboot

Sometimes when I leave a game downloading, Steam freezes the entire computer, nothing comes back. This only happens when Steam is open, without any other programs open, not even games. Sometimes when minimizing and maximizing Steam, everything freezes too, it's a mystery. It's happened twice, when I left two large games downloading. The first time the entire computer froze and I turned it off and the download was lost, the second time I didn't lose the download, everything froze in the same way.

Have you installed the latest version of your motherboard's BIOS (7D98vBE) using M-Flash? You can download the BIOS update from https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B760-VC-WIFI/support

It looks like Lenovo may not have put out a BIOS update for 12th generation CPUs that include the new Intel microcode 0x129 nor 0x12B, perhaps because Intel hasn't publicly stated that the new microcode has improvements for 12th generation CPUs (they've only publicly discussed 13th and 14th generation CPUs thus far).

Still happening got blue screened 3 times in like 10 mins . Had to hard reset . Not a good start for the game . Would just prefer to play the og smite at this point lmao
