Because they deserved to be mocked. They had what could have been the best MOBA on the market and decided to throw everything off the board in order to give those resources to Fortnite. I can understand it on small companies, but on one of the collosus of the current gaming market?
They deserved every laugh thrown at them for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Also, Epic laughed at them when they asked for keys for UE3 in order to create SMITE.
Smite 2 on the other hand has to be one of the dumbest business decisions HI Rez has ever done. I get that Smite needed an engine upgrade, but they should have announced it once it was ready for F2P, not show off a proof of concept at the beginning of 2024, and announce that Smite 1 players wont be getting a majority of their skins which upset the people that put the most money into the game.
Essentially with the Smite 2 announcement, they killed their most profitable game (Smite 1) and angered the people who spent the most money in Smite 1, likely making them quit Smite altogether, or at the very least cause them to no longer spend money on cosmetics.
Not totally dismissing the key part of my message, while understand what YOU want.

Mea culpa there, i'm still crying Paragon's death. And to be honest, that decision was to be laughed, as said, they had a MOBA that could essentially stomp the entire market, and instead of saying "Let's hire people and keep both games" they decided to murder one in cold blood because yes. Paragon's team it's not at fault tho, as always they were the ones paying for the broken glasses.
PD: Why the ♥♥♥♥ "Me-a" it's banned? xD
The dumbest decision it's not firing the CEO ASAP, I mean, he has 9 deaths on his back, and for how the things are going, seems that the 10th kill it's on it's way.
They had one of the best products on the market and decided to ruin in by their own will, that's something that deserves to be laughed at, atleast when it comes to the decision making department due to the stupid decisions they made, same it's happening to HiRez right now, they are doing absurd decisions because yolo and the ones paying for it are workers + players.
It's about Hi-Rez, making fun of them 7 years, when Paragon closed, poking fun at theirs decision when Hi-Rez is making EXACTLY the same mistake, and even worse, not being hable to gain new players.
If you're going to make fun at somebody, at least to try to do better. Not worse.
It's what people call "Chronicles of an announced death", the moment you have someone with more than 3 unnecesary deaths as CEO AND YOU DON'T REMOVE HIM FROM HIS POSITION, it's guaranteed that the path will be the same, and the fact that he was able to reach 9 deaths and he is still there proves how hard HiRez highs care about the company.
The 3D and verticality were cool but even the visuals weren't that impressive. Classic UE haze pulled over everything.
I'll concede though that the main theme Adrenaline is an absolute banger.
That said, HiRez has a track record of being shady which they seem to continue with Smite 2, for shame.

That ain't the topic of the discution, but go off I guess.
