The answer to most of your questions is that Smite 1 was made in the 2010's, and this game for the most part brings the look of the characters from that game to Smite 2. Art and culture have changed, as they always do from one decade to the next. 50's, 60's, & 70's all had very different vibes. Demographics for things also shift over time. In the meantime I'd just say to accept these characters as they are. I'm accepting them as they look now, and would also be just as fine if changes were made to them. Including many of the changes you brought up. A lot of them make sense to me. I also get that this game has a sense of humor about itself, so there is random and intentional silliness in some of the characters and their different skins.
Regarding scars and so on, it makes sense, but at the moment it's a trifle. Given the current trends, I want to say thanks to Smite, because... Smite is one of the few games where many female characters still look like attractive women, and not something... else...
Question from me to the game - after Smite 1, what happened to the faces of the gods in 2?
Funnily: Bastet WAS a fully feline design before they changed her to a catgirl.
I am all for pretty ladies. But they can be more than "Woman in cosplay". And Smite has shown they can do fantastic skins and god designs.
Hel(l) Bastet did get a feline skin down the line in Smite 1.
Where Smite made her a bit TOO accurate, which apparently was a bad thing.
Arachne seems to have a few depictions. Some are just "Spider Taur", but some also have her upper half be very spooder-fied and horrific.
But I would like to see more unique female designs in line with their "source material".
