Gameplay improvements question

Is Smite 2 just being an graphical update? I watched a new trailer today and it looks exactly like an original Smite, just with better graphics. Honestly, I imagined Smite 2 as a project with AAA quality that would have free, not locked camera, smooth movement/combat animations and improved combat gameplay. If it looked at least like Warframe but with Smite features, that would be a perfect upgrade from the first game. I'll definitely give it a try when Smite 2 comes out, but I'm not sure I'll be playing it for long.

I think the engine upgrades will allow more "creativity" with mechanics and stuff. Especially in terms of how stats are measured now. I wouldnt judge it too much on the trailer, because it is specifically said "not final".
