So basically i lost half my stuff...

I bought 8k gems 2 months ago, and I have like $2k invested into this game, with many limited skins. I really hope they give me an equitable amount of value back, because i'd rather not have smite 2 at this point if i'm going to lose all my stuff.

There is a legacy system planned. And Smite 1 will continue along side with Smite 2 going by articles.

I honestly, don't see that lasting long because it makes no sense to run and maintaine two diff sets of the same game because it just more dev work

Exactly, it will likely go into maintenance mode shorty after Smite 2's official release. Servers will remain live but major updates will slow down and eventually stop. Eventually after a enough time has passed and players start to leave naturally from lack of major updates, it would not surprise me if they shut down smite 1 servers for good. They aren't going to want to split their playerbase at all. They would want people to move to Smite 2 asap.

You can only use those old gems up to 50% of the skin price, so you have to use 50% paid gems and 50% old gems. So basically its just a discount on skins.

As long as we don't touch smite 2, they won't have incentive to ditch smite 1. Maybe then they will realise this is a rubbish move.

Smite 2 will have be a vast improvement over Smite 1 in terms of gameplay if they think players will will abandon all the money they put into Smite 1. They have to do something better than the legacy system which only gives players 50% off their Smite 2 skin purchases. With Smite having events and Skins that require someone to buy a whole event worth of skins that can cost $100 or more this just seems like a scummy thing to do.

ok so its not just purchased people really need to just go to the site https://www.smite2.com/faqs/

tank wasnt even balanced to be a tank when it was magic and physical damage now gods can build whatever they want thats nice full def tanks already get popped but yeh people are attached to too much in smite already.

remember also skin prices are the same price as an indie game

Also the majority of the playerbase will be playing Smite 2, you'll only find match with bots in Smite 1.
