So is it gonna carry over or its just big fancy scam to get rid of people not having to grind and buy new gods all the time?

Everyone else seems to be saying that the god pack won't transfer.

If that's the case this is a giant scam and shouldn't be supported, taking away people's paid content just to re-sell it to them.

Players can unlock all present and future SMITE 2 gods by purchasing a SMITE 2 Founder’s Pack

Check the youtube announcement. They covered all these questions there

Which doesnt make it any better. They justifie "your skins wont carry over" with the workload it would take to port every skin for every god. And while that is somewhat reasonable, porting every god over is something they already did / plan to, so its no "additional workload". There is no reason to not at least unlock every present / past god for people that have the Ultimate Pack and only require the Founders packs for future gods.

They really didnt, many things are left vague or with "we will share more information about that in the future". I guess one reason for that is that they want to wait and see how much backlash comes up in the forum if they really go through with a combination of "nothing carries over" and "some things will be ported, but you have to buy them again".

I'm about 95% sure this an OW2 style of f*ckery in an attempt to fleece more money from people. They have said nothing that convinces me it isn't.

Its worse than ow2 due to skins not transferring

However you can still play OG Smite any time you like. And you'll get gem 1:1 unlike Overwatch.

and i doubt it'll get future updates and the game already has a small playerbase so splitting it is just going to make queues even harsher

Those so called legacy gems can only be used to cover 50% of prices, and only for eligable items. So you a) still have to pay additional money for ported skins you already own and b) may not even be able to buy the things you want with those gems since HiRez can just decide to exclude certain items from being eligable for those gems.
Also, do you have any source for getting gems 1:1? They only mentioned you will get "reimbursement" for any gem you have spent, but they didnt mention any ratio. They might as well only give you 1 legacy gem for every 2 Smite 1 gem you have spent.

None of your content is being taken away.

Scam? I mean it's a free game with a $40 optional purchase. I made that ~10 years ago, pretty well worth.

True, for now they "only" decide to either not port them over to Smite 2 or make you pay extra for skins they do end up porting. The keyphrase here is "for now". It makes no sense / isnt very profitable to run 2 different versions of the same game like that, especially since they divide the playerbase, so while no 100% guaranteed, it isnt unreasonable to assume that they will discontinue Smite 1 at one point while keeping Smite 2 around or vice versa (depending on which version is more successfull / earns them more money), at which point it does qualify as "taking away your paid content".
Dont get me wrong, if the game would simply be dying, that would be a different thing. But them covertly switching versions and taking away peoples paid content just because of that? No, thats not ok.

Still doesnt justifie them potentially taking away content or, at the very least, making people buy it twice. "Online games wont be around forever" is a given fact people have to accept. But them trying to make people pay twice for things they already paid for and covertly trying to circumvent their obligations of "buy once - get all for free" of the Ultimate Godpack?

You will get Legacy Gems, not normal Gems. And as others have said those can be used only up to 50% of price for select few items. Even more so those Legacy Gems ARE NOT EQUAL to new Gems in value unless you buy Founder pack, which doubles your Legacy gems to keep up with increased prices, something devs said themselves.

So not only we are getting equivalent of "thank you" coupon with small discount, those "coupons" arent even valued 1:1 with new currency.

This is exactly what I think is going on. I cannot be excited for paying for texture updates.
